Holiday Card Workshop Days 6-8

We’re into the second week of the Holiday Card Workshop. This week, I’ve been using a lot of Ranger Distress inks. I’m sharing cards crafted with some of my favorite combinations.

My first card was inspired by one of Jennifer McGuire’s. I blended Tumbled Glass and Evergreen Boughs for my background. I placed a landscape cut from an Impression Obsession die on top.

My next card is a variation of one made by Kristina Werner. My version is a bit simpler than the one she shared in class. She had stamped snowflakes onto her card in pigment ink. When I did the same, the snowflakes didn’t make much of an impact, so I remade the card adding a little sparkle with Stickles. There’s Iced Spruce in the right-hand corner, Evergreen Bough in the left-hand corner, and Peacock Feathers along the top.

For the card I made today, I combined a design from class by Amber Kemp-Gerstel with one I saw made by Cheiron Brandon. The trees are die cut from the card base and the panels with the distress inks are adhered to the back – Peacock Feathers, Evergreen Bough, and Tumbled Glass.

You’ll notice that the sentiment is the same on all three cards. It’s from the Hero Arts + Studio Calico “Spread Joy” set. I’ve had it on my stamping block all week!

  1. I love all your cards. Aren’t the tree line dies fun? I love the shading you created on your version of Kristina’s card.
Are the trees embossed? I like how they look. I have some tree dies that I want to play with and this is a great idea.

    1. Thanks! The trees in the final card are embossed with the “Snow Dots” background stamp. I stamped it, embossed it clear and applied the three distress inks to it. I cut it up into panels and adhered behind the card front that is die cut with the trees.

  2. Hi Jean! All of these cards are terrific. Am I missing something? What dies did you use for the 3 trees on the last card???

  3. Congrats on the shout-out. I hadn’t noticed the same sentiment until you mentioned it! Just shows how one stamp can look different every time you use it.

  4. I love them all. Your colors are terrific. That Holiday Card Workshop was a good class with lots of great ideas.

  5. I like all three of these cards. I have been a student in the HCW class as well, but have not started to try the different techniques. Your cards are inspiring! My favorite is the second one with the night scene.
