OCC Stenciled: Day One

The Online Card Classes Stenciled Class began today. It’s the perfect way to head into the weekend!

For my card, I followed the one shown by Debby Hughes. Her cards are always perfection! Debby used a different stencil and sentiment (neither of which I own).

OCC Stenciled: Day One
Yes, white on white with a vellum overlay is difficult to photograph! My sentiment doesn’t take up the tag space as much as the one Debby used (she used one from a SSS set and it’s just beautiful). Because the sentiment I used talks about “brighter days” I chose yellow and orange inks for the tweed pattern stencil. The biggest issue was adhering the vellum to the card front. I placed clear foam adhesive behind the heat-embossed sentiment in a couple of spots. Obviously, if the sentiment was larger, I would have had more spots to hide the adhesive!

Have a fabulous weekend!

  1. Lovely, Jean! I think Debby’s “sketch” here will be a go-to for me for awhile, I love it so much! And yes, I found out the hard way that the bigger the sentiment the easier to adhere the tag! (a hint: putting your sequins/dots on the tag first gives you somewhere to hide the adhesive!)

  2. hmmm… I’m thinking, punch a hole in the panel so the cord could go through both and no adhesive needed to adhere the tag. Vellum makes you creative for sure! Beautiful card Jean and as soon as I saw the sentiment….come on back out Mr. Sun!!! At least it’s warmer here today…still super windy. Winter and weather! lol

  3. I’ve followed your link from the Stencil course – I’m another one of the course participants. I really like your interpretation of Debbie’s card. Well done 🙂

  4. Hi Jean! Love your stenciled card! I’m missing the class, big time! Wish I was there, too, but had to sit this one out. I’ll keep an eye out for your cards and see what you come up with next!

  5. Gorgeous card, Jean! I think yellow is the perfect color with your sentiment, and I love how you disguised the tape on your vellum! Great take on Debby’s card!
