OCC Watercolor Day 3

I’m sharing a card created with the technique shown by Jennifer Rzasa in today’s Online Card Classes Watercolor for Card Makers lesson. The idea is to ink your stamp and mist with water before stamping for a watercolor effect.

DayThreeStamping

I worked on this for most of the morning (read, tore my hair out) trying Memento dye ink pads, as she suggested, and finally switching to Distress Ink pads. I walked away from this more than once when I wasn’t getting the results I wanted! I had the best results stamping onto the Ranger Watercolor paper. I tried Neenah Solar White but the ink looked blah on it.

I die cut the sentiment four times, the last time in watercolor paper I colored with the Worn Lipstick Distress Ink pad to match to the flowers.

  1. Really stunning card, Jean! I love the water color effect with these flowers and leaves, and your embossed card base is such a perfect background! Beautiful sentiment, too!

  2. Hi Jean..I LOVE the stamps you chose for the technique, and I’m glad you experimented with different inks! This is just stunning

  3. this is really wonderful. I love that you made the sentiment match the flowers. it sounds like you worked really hard on this one, but so so worth it. this class is helping me so much. I love the way you put the card together also, really nice card front placement. you go girl!

  4. I love the green and pink on your card–looks so pretty! I love the style of your sentiment. That’s on my list. So glad you stuck with this. The card looks great!

  5. I think this is so pretty and I love how the colors worked together!! I have not tried Jen’s technique yet, but hope I do NOT struggle as you did, however, looking at the end result, I would say you GOT IT! 🙂 I played today creating a card inspired by Jennifer McGuire and I was happy with it, although it took a lot of time and I was just happy in the end, it worked out!! I really am enjoying this class very much and looking forward to tomorrow!!

  6. well, all your efforts made for one gorgeous card in the end! And now at least you’ve learned what works for YOU! Love the colors, and I’m putting that die on my list!

  7. I was feeling the same way this morning working on my cards. Your final result is beautiful. Love the worn lipstick color and the various colors in your leaves.

  8. your card turned out so lovely and great design. and I too ended up with distress inks – Memento just didn’t work – also found that spritzing only about twice was enough using distress – thanks for your kind comment on my blog.

  9. Girl, you took the words right outta my mouth!! This crap is HARD!! LOL But I love your take on the card. I can tell you I emptied about three spritzer bottles of water and threw away at least 20 pieces of water color paper in the last two days!! But I’m pushing through and trying really hard to try most of the techniques! Unlike you, I’ve given up on trying to come up with ideas of my own and going the route of CASE’ing the instructor samples. But I’m determined to figure this crap out if it’s the last thing I do!! LOL Your card is gorgeous!! Coming home the end of the month – we need to get together and crop this summer!! XOXO

  10. Glad you stuck with it, Jean! Your card is stunning. I am still on Day 1 but I will try to follow your example when I get to this technique 🙂 Your design looks gorgeous!
