Halloween Greetings – colourQ 364

Hello! I’m playing along with this week’s colourQ Challenge.

I created a CAS Halloween card with the challenge colors:

This card uses a variety of products from my stash. The sentiments are from an older Reverse Confetti set. I used an Avery Elle tag die to cut one of the sentiments and a Spellbinders circle die to cut the other.

The ghosts, which I backed with the Lilac color (needed to sneak that in!), are Memory Box dies. The dry-embossed background was created with a Stampin’ Up folder.

The challenge colors initially had me stumped, but the inspiration photo brought to mind the Reverse Confetti “Peacock Pretties” stamp set. I decided on equal ratios of the purple, aqua and navy with the gold as the accent.

I stamped and heat-embossed the feather image from “Peacock Pretties” on cardstock, which I then cut with a banner die so that they would be the same size. The sentiment stamped in black is from the same set.

Splash! – colourQ challenge #348

I thought about this combination of colors for a bit and kept trying to figure out which color should have the most emphasis and which the least. In the end, I decided to give the colors more or less the same amount of emphasis and employed my design friend – repetition.

colourQ challenge #348

I colored Ranger Glossy Cardstock with Distress Inks to cut with the Little Bits – Beach Ball die. I cut the base of the balls and the Mini Caps Alpha & #’s from uncolored Glossy Cardstock. I like how the glossy cardstock emulates the plastic of blow-up beach balls. I colored the background using Loll Thompson‘s “splash” watercolor technique using Tumbled Glass Distress Ink- her video is here. I had “splash” on the brain, since that’s what I used for the sentiment!

Lawn Fawn Father’s Day

Today, I’m sharing a card created for Father’s Day using the color scheme from colourQ Challenge #346.

I used an older Lawn Fawn set – Dad’s Day.

After stamping the ties in the four ink colors, I added a heat-embossed sentiment, attached to the card panel with foam adhesive. I tried a number of different inks – both dye and pigment – while creating this card! I need to add a light blue pigment ink to my collection and get a reinker for my Fresh Inks navy pad. (My ink collection knows no bounds!)

Supplies: Fresh Inks gray + navy

ColourQ #312 with a CAS Reverse Confetti card

I stamped and heat-embossed the sentiment from the Spooky Sentiments set on orange cardstock. On a white cardstock panel I stamped the fence and bats from Spooky Cuties. For the darker orange, I die cut the tree branches from Branch Out several times and adhered them for extra depth.
