Lawn Fawn Delight: Cat-themed Birthday Card

Meow! Today I’m excited to share with you a birthday card, purrfect for cat lovers, featuring adorable cats and colorful balloons. I used Lawn Fawn products to create this cute design, which includes watercolored cats lounging on a cozy couch in front of a die-cut window.

Lawn Fawn Delight: Cat-themed Birthday Card

      • Stamp Meow You Doin’ sentiment on patterned paper; add to A2-size card base.
      • Stamp Meow You Doin’ (cats), Window Scene Winter (couch), and Wild For You (hat) images with VersaFine on Arches Cold Press watercolor paper. Color with markers. When dry, cut with coordinating die sets.
      • Cut Party Balloons from Arches Cold Press watercolor paper and watercolor with markers. When dry, attach strings.
      • Cut Window Frame from white cardstock. Cut light-blue cardstock sized to go behind the window. Add balloons to background; attach window with foam adhesive.
      • Place window on card base. Add couch with cats attached.

Including a window in a card design creates a sense of perspective that draws the viewer into the scene. This can be especially effective if you’re creating cards with setting such as a cozy home. I often use windows on my cards such as this one featuring the Lawn Fawn Wonderful Window die set.

Lawn Fawn | Watercolored Whimsical Tea Party Scene

Get ready to be transported to a charming tea party scene featuring adorable animal attendees! I created this whimsical scene by watercoloring images from Lawn Fawn’s Tea-rrific Day stamp set, which includes a fox, hedgehog, and squirrel gathered around a tree stump for tea. The resulting card is a perfect way to send warm wishes for many occasions including birthdays, thank you, or “just because.” Read on for step-by-step instructions on how I created the watercolored tea party card.

I had so much fun bringing these adorable animal characters to life, dressed in fancy hats for the tea party gathering.

    • Stamp Tea-rrific Day animals, tree stump, and tea accessories on Arches Cold Press watercolor paper in VersaFine black ink; heat set.
    • Color items with watercolor markers using a size 4 brush:
Fox: Sketchmarker Aqua Red Panda, Sketchmarker Aqua Flesh, Zig Persian Blue, Zig Pink, Zig Turquoise Green, Tombow Blush (Dusty Rose)
Hedgehog: Tombow Redwood, Zig Medium Beige, Tombow Blush (Dusty Rose), Zig Violet, Zig Yellow, Zig Pink
Squirrel: Tombow Saddle Brown, Tombow Blush (Dusty Rose), Zig Purple
Tree Stump: Sketchmarker Aqua Brown, Zig Turquoise Green, Zig Pink, Zig Violet
Mushrooms: Tombow Warm Red, Tombow Tan (Cappuccino)

    • Stamp sentiment on green cardstock, trim, and cut with Simple Stitched Hillside Borders die. Add to card background.
    • Add animals, tree stump, and tea party accessories to scene with dot and foam adhesive.

Tea parties invite us to slow down and appreciate the simple pleasures in life. In our fast-paced world, taking the time to sit down and savor a cup of tea and a slice of cake can be a refreshing break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Looking for inspiration to host a tea party? I have mentioned the lifestyle blogger Home is Where the Boat Is in previous posts. She posted a fun tea party here and shares additional tea-themed ideas here.

Lawn Fawn | Mixed Media Birthday Card

Hello! Today I am sharing a birthday card, featuring Lawn Fawn products, that I am entering into the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #144 – All Things Birthday. This is not a card I just whipped up. It took time to watercolor the images and foil the background and letters! I learned a lot along the way.

Lawn Fawn | Mixed Media Birthday Card

  • Stamp images from the Wild for You and Party Animal sets in VersaFine ink on Arches Cold Press watercolor paper; heat set ink. Color images using Zig and Tombow markers. Once dry, cut with coordinating dies.
Fox: Zig Brown, Zig Oatmeal; Alligator: Tombow Sap Green, Zig Deep Green; Mouse: Tombow Chocolate; Elephant: Zig Dark Gray; Giraffe: Zig Brown, Zig Light Brown, Tombow Peach.
  • Cut Party Balloons from watercolor paper and color with markers (Zig Persian Blue, Tombow Warm Red, Zig Bright Yellow). Die-cut strings from white cardstock and attach to dried balloons.
  • Foil Iridescent foil to toner sheet. Cut sentiment from foil with Cole’s ABCs. Cut same letters from Silver Glitter Foam and glue to the back of the foiled letters (glitter side down). (Any foam that can be die cut would work.) Cut Matte Black cardstock 1 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches and adhere letters to strip.
  • Apply Therm O Web Blanco Transfer Gel through the straight Skinny Stripes stencil on Sea Glass cardstock. Once dry, foil with Rainbow Deco Foil. (Notice that the stripes of the rainbow go from left to right, not top to bottom.) Trim panel to A2-size and add to card base. Adhere Vellum to panel with double-sided tape along the bottom which the sentiment strip will cover.
  • Add sentiment strip to background, attach balloons to background, and attach animals with foam adhesive. Glue can be added to the vellum behind the items to help secure it to the foiled background.

Lawn Fawn | Teacup Valentine

Hello! Today I am sharing a Valentine created with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Teacup set. I have previously created cards with the set here and here.

Lawn Fawn | Teacup Valentine

    • Cut cups with the Stitched Teacup set from patterned paper and Chocolate Bar cardstock; assemble stack. (Teacups are taped together on the back.)
    • Stamp Simply Celebrate Hearts sentiment on white cardstock. Cut with largest rectangle in the Small Stitched Rectangle Stackables set (3 3/4 inches by 5 inches). Add stamped panel to Sea Glass cardstock card base.
    • Embellish with a sugar cube (included in the Stitched Teacup set) and hearts cut with dies in the Speech Bubbles set and Mini Picture Frames set (the smaller heart).

Lawn Fawn | Snowman Valentine

If Punxsutawney Phil is right, there will be snowmen for a while longer (Northern Hemisphere). Since I enjoyed playing with the Lawn Fawn Build-A-Snowman die for holiday cards (here and here), I figured I would use the same set for a Valentine combining Lawn Fawn products!

Lawn Fawn | Snowman Valentine

  • Cut patterned paper with A2-size die in the Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables set.  (The paper is from an old pad in my stash.) Add to card base.
  • Stamp Simply Celebrate Hearts sentiment (a new set from Lawn Fawn) in navy ink on white cardstock. To create the snowbank, cut with the A2-size die in the Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables set and then with a die in the Simple Stitched Hillside Borders set. Add to card background.
  • Cut snowman with Build-A-Snowman from flocked white, Light Brown Woodgrain, Black Licorice, orange, and patterned paper. Assemble and add to card background.
  • Use heart dies in the Speech Bubbles set to cut hearts from silver, navy, and red cardstock. (The Build-A-Snowman set includes a smaller heart; for the banner, I preferred this size and shape.) Adhere hearts to red-and-white twine. Position strand of hearts in the hands of the snowman; secure with glue.
