Penny Black Hydrangea

Hello! Today I am sharing a CAS “Thank You” featuring a potted hydrangea created with Penny Black supplies. Around here, we’ll begin to see hydrangeas blooming mid-July.

Penny Black Hydrangea

  • I cut the 51-610 Hydrangea pieces from green cardstock and two shades of blue.
  • With the same set, I cut the butterflies from yellow cardstock.
  • I cut the pot for the plant from red cardstock with a die in the 51-635 Buckets of Flowers set.
  • I cut the back frame with the 51-611 Creative Curves die from white cardstock.
  • I stamped the 30-281 Flower Sparks sentiment and cut it with a circle die.
  • I tried a number of different backgrounds, including ones I stamped with backgrounds stamps. In the end, patterned paper from my stash worked best.

Spellbinders Large Die June 2020 – Geometrical Floral Frames

Hello!  Today I am sharing a CAS friendship card created with the June Large Die of the Month kit from Spellbinders – “Geometrical Floral Frames.” (Edited: This die set is no longer available.)

On my card, I used one of the frames in the set along with the flowers and foliage.

  • I heat-embossed the sentiment on deep blue cardstock.
  • I cut the frame from gold foil.
  • I cut the greenery from SU Cucumber Crush (now retired) and vellum. I cut the flowers from yellow, red, and white, and their centers from gold foil.
  • I glued the foliage and flowers to the frame. I used flowers to cover the junction points for the foliage.
  • I glued the frame to the card base.
  • I added flat sequins in several sizes to the card to fill in the “white space.”

Find Your Happy Place

Hello! Today I am sharing a card created with Penny Black dies depicting a yoga studio, inspired by the yoga space on Yoga with Adriene. I have been practicing yoga with Adriene’s videos for the past month, and will be doing so for the foreseeable future, as the local studio is currently closed.

Find Your Happy Place

  • I die-cut the greenery with the Penny Black 51-308 Bold Branch, 51-002 Leaves,  and 51-119 Flower Frolic dies.
  • I cut the 51-441 Wood Floors from kraft cardstock.
  • I created the containers for the plants by cutting circles and a rectangle and then cutting those shapes again with a rectangle die. I dry-embossed the pots with the TE Weathered folder.
  • I created the sentiment on my computer. As a side note, Adriene’s catchphrase is “Find What Feels Good.” Since Adriene’s studio (on tv) has been my “happy place,” I went with that as the sentiment.
  • I tried many different backgrounds. Adriene’s yoga space is in her dining room and there are windows covered with white wood blinds in the background. I ultimately dry-embossed white cardstock with a brick background for texture. The other backgrounds I tried took away from the calm space I was trying to depict.

Penny Black Butterflies – Two Versions

Hello! Today I am sharing two cards on which I’ve combined a variety of Penny Black supplies, which I have owned for years. I tend to get so caught up with new products, I often neglect supplies I already own. The designs of both cards I have previously used.

Penny Black Butterflies

  • I stamped white cardstock using the 40-254 Decadence stamp with a now-retired Stampin’ Up ink (Soft Sky).
  • I cut the stamped cardstock with a die in the 51-007 Tagged set three times.
  • I cut the two butterflies with dies in the 51-006 Flutters set.
  • I stamped the 30-286 Heartfelt sentiment on to light blue cardstock and cut it with a circle die.
  • I added the elements to a card base dry-embossed with the Taylored Expressions “Weathered” folder.
  • I added twine to the middle tag.

I previously used this same card design here.

On my second card, I used the same color scheme and many of the same elements.

Penny Black – A Floral Hello

Hello! Today I am sharing a “Hello” card created with  Penny Black supplies.

Penny Black - A Floral Hello

  • I stamped the 30-704 Wings and Vases image and colored it with Copic markers and colored pencils.
  • I cut the image with its corresponding die set.
  • I cut the 51-611 Creative Curves from white cardstock and backed it with a rectangle.
  • I die-cut the sentiment, using the 51-040 Hello Frame die, three times (for extra dimension) and glued the pieces together.
  • I applied double-sided adhesive to vellum and cut a rectangular strip. With the vase in place on the Creative Curves piece, I adhered the vellum. I then glued the Hello sentiment to the vellum strip.
  • I stamped the light-orange paper with the 40-254 Decadence stamp for the card base.
  • I added the assembly to the card base.
  • I added butterflies, cut with a die in the 51-132 Flights of Fancy set, to the scene for additional interest.

A few weeks ago I shared another card created with a different image from the 30-704 Wings and Vases set.
