Nautical-themed Die-cut Card

Hello (or should I say ahoy?)! I am always enthusiastic about crafting anything nautical-themed. I’ve been interested in all things nautical my entire life, even though I didn’t spend my childhood anywhere near the water.

Today’s card features the Memory Box Marina Sailboats. I chose a favorite color scheme of red, white, and blue for the boats.

Nautical-themed Die-cut Card

  • I cut the sailboats from red (SU Real Red), white, and navy (SU Night of Navy) cardstock. I trimmed pieces in order to change the color of the hulls.
  • To create the background, I applied white embossing paste to SU Daffodil Delight cardstock through the MFT Radiating Rays stencil. I used Dreamweaver white embossing paste.
  • I created the sentiment by cutting the letters twice, once in white and once in red (SU Real Red), with the Cole’s ABCs dies. I offset the letters when I adhered them.
  • I used the Lawn Fawn Ocean Wave Borders to cut the ocean from Memory Box cardstock. The wave die set includes three wave patterns (three different sizes of the waves); I used all three.

Poppy Stamps – Whittle Hippos

Hello! Today, I am sharing a summer-themed card featuring Poppy Stamps supplies. (It’s not swimming weather here in the Pacific Northwest! Nevertheless, I am drawn to bright colors and the idea of swimming.)

Poppy Stamps Whittle Hippos

  • I created the background from 1/2 inch strips of coral, yellow, and light blue-green cardstock, which I taped together on the back. The strips create a 4 1/2 inch square background. The card base is 4 3/4 inch square.
  • I die-cut the Whittle Floating Hippo and Whittle Happy Hippo from gray cardstock. The swimming ring was cut from coral cardstock that I heat-embossed with clear powder.
  • I die-cut the Whittle Wave Background from teal cardstock.
  • I stamped the Whittle Sealife Sentiments sentiment on white cardstock and cut it with a 1/4 inch die.

Spellbinders Liberty Collection – July and December

Hello! I was recently a guest blogger for Spellbinders on their blog sharing two cards showcasing the Liberty Collection. With the collection, I created a 4th of July card and a Christmas card. I hope you will head over to see my creations, read about the designs, and leave a comment!

Marianne Design Beach Scene

Hello! Even though it is not even 60 degrees here in the Pacific Northwest, I am sharing a beach scene! The card is created primarily with die sets from Marianne Design. (The company is based in The Netherlands; I buy their sets from Frantic Stamper or 123Stitch.)

Marianne Design Beach Scene

  • The sand is created from light tan cardstock to which I added dry clear glitter with double-sided adhesive.
  • The Lifeguard House has open slots on the back through which I inked the details (white pigment ink on navy blue cardstock).
  • The Lifeguard House die is one piece. I cut it from white and added the navy blue portion (by fussy-cutting it). I did the same with the red flag.
  • The umbrella die is one piece as well. I cut if from white and yellow cardstock; I cut the yellow portion and added it to the white umbrella piece.
  • The sentiment is from a now-retired Simon Says Stamp set. I stamped it on to white cardstock and cut it with a Memory Box cloud die.

Marianne Design – To the Beach

Hello! With Labor Day just around the corner, I am sharing a CAS, end-of-summer card using the Beach Houses set from Marianne Design. The company is based in The Netherlands; I buy their sets from Frantic Stamper.

Marianne Design - To the Beach

  • The dies for the houses have open slots on the back through which I inked the details on the houses and the umbrella.
  • I masked the houses to ink the flag and the bird.
  • I cut the chairs and the door from cardstock inked with the Memento Love Letter ink. I inked squares with Dandelion ink and taped the pieces behind the windows.
  • I stamped the Papertrey Ink sentiment (which I use once every year it seems!) on to Sea Glass cardstock, and added a strip of blue cardstock for the ocean, and kraft cardstock for the beach.
  • I cut the lone bird in the sky with a Memory Box set, now retired, which I lightly inked on the edges.
  • I adhered the elements to the scene.
