The Cutting Edge Challenge #10

It’s time for the another Cutting Edge Challenge! Our inspiration this week is one of my cards.

TCEC_10I created the card last year celebrating the end of summer/beginning of fall. That’s Ginger taking center stage in a hay field on Whidbey Island.

I decided to focus on the crows/blackbirds/ravens that seem to be prevalent at this time of year – on fences, on telephone wires, wherever they can rest (or survey their territory!).

Challenge10JM

I used a combination of Distress Inks to create the background panel to which I attached the bird die cuts from Spellbinders Birds On A Wire. I used a sentiment stamped with a Neat and Tangled set to finish it off.

The Cutting Edge Challenge #9

It’s time for the another Cutting Edge Challenge! Our inspiration this week is an amazing card created by Design Team member Lisa Addesa.

Here’s my take on her card:

Challenge9JMI rotated the card which put more flowers on the left-hand side (corresponding with the upper-left corner of Lisa’s card). I chose a multi-line sentiment, like Lisa’s, that combines a script font with a san-serif one. I also used some of the colors that Lisa used on her flowers.

The Cutting Edge Challenge #8

It’s time for the another Cutting Edge Challenge! Our inspiration this week is an amazing card created by Design Team member Kay Miller.

Here’s my take on her card:

Challenge8JM

I was drawn the colors in Kay’s card, as well as the idea of foliage providing structure to the design. I used small birds in lieu of the flowers. I also substituted a white card panel on a blue base for her blue panel on a white base.

The Cutting Edge Challenge #7

It’s time for the another Cutting Edge Challenge! Our inspiration this week is an amazing card created by Design Team member Jackie Rockwell.

Here’s my take on her card:

Challenge-7-JMI was drawn to the horizontal lines and the conversation bubbles on Jackie’s card. I also incorporated the pink and golden yellow colors in her card on mine, and I created a square card like she did. I used the stitched long rectangle from the Blueprints die set to create the horizontal lines. The sentiments, which I stamped and heat embossed, are from Simon Says Stamp sets.

The Cutting Edge Challenge #5

It’s time for the another Cutting Edge Challenge! Our inspiration this week is an amazing card created by Design Team member Melania Deasy.

I was inspired by her beautiful clustering and use of color. Here’s my take:

Challenge-5-jm

I used the Lil’ Inker stitched butterflies die set and a Lil’ Inker sentiment to create my card. I cut the butterflies in three sizes in a variety of cardstock colors, and then began to put them together in a manner that would give justice to the subtle combination on Melania’s card. (Let’s just say that my work table, aka the kitchen table, has a pile of butterflies on it!) I cut a white panel at 4″ x 5 1/4″ for the elements and added it to a white card base.
