Today’s Online Card Class Pattern Play class lesson was a bit of a challenge for me. The lesson focus was on manipulating paper, and I followed the technique shared by Kristina Werner in which four pattern strips were woven together. The difficulty was in choosing the right set of papers that would work together for the weaving. Kristina used some My Mind’s Eye papers in soft colors and harmonizing patterns that went together beautifully.
Even though I had the stamp that Kristina used on her card, a bunny from Wplus9 Design Studio, I wanted to try something else. I chose the Paper Smooches bear and found some “camp-themed” (more masculine) papers for the woven paper weaving. Yes, my card is heavy on the polka dots! I hit another obstacle when I went to choose paper for the bear. I initially white embossed a dark brown, but it was just too much contrast for the other papers.
I’ve had a great time in this class and don’t want it to end! I always learn so much in the classes.
Supplies: Paper Smooches stamps; patterned papers by Bazzill, My Mind’s Eye, Simple Stories; Versafine ink; vellum; Amuse Studio embossing plate
I think you nailed this, Jean. Polka dot heavy? Maybe, but I think that’s what ties it all together. I really loved Kristina’s soft and lovely card, didn’t you?
I think it turned out fabulous! I love your paper choices with the cute little bear.
Love the polka dotted bear. So cute.
Your cards ALWAYS stand out in the OCC gallery, and this was no exception! I love your ‘quilted’ panel…such pretty papers, and your bear is adorable! Another great card, Jean!
“Ditto” what Barb said, I am always drawn to your cards in the gallery, and this card was no exception.
