The moment I saw the Sunny Days stamp set, I knew I wanted it! And when Elizabeth Allan posted this incredible card, I knew which image I wanted to start with! I just love this cat.
This card, which is just over 3″ around, took me several tries using watercolor pencils. I learned something important about Inktense pencils, which are the watercolor pencils I’ve been using – the colors are permanent once you go over them with water. In other words, when you add water, Inktense produces ink not watercolor paint. So, I used Prismacolor pencils for the fur, because I wanted to be able to work the color more than once. The fins, sunglasses and beach towel, however, are colored with the Inktense pencils. I stamped the inside of the card with the “A Sunny Hello” sentiment from the set.
Wishing you a “Sunny Day.”
The forecast is always sunny here on your blog Jean. Love the bright vibrancy of your watercoloring and the shading you add for depth. This cutie is sure to chase any chance of rain away.
Absolutely adorable card, Jean…those sunglasses are too cute! Thanks for the tip on the pencils!
Love this card! I’m thinking I need this stamp, too, since I live in the South. Thanks for posting!
