You Anchor Me

Kristie Goulet of the Stamp Nation team regularly posts about paper crafting trends sharing tips, tutorials and projects! Kristie wrote about the nautical trend last year, when it was really at its high point. As a member, I can access those past articles. Even if the trend has cooled somewhat, I still enjoy making nautical-themed cards, especially in the summer.

To create the coral striped background, I inked the Impression Obsession Thick Stripes background stamp with Distress Ink and misted it until the ink pooled. The anchor is cut from a brushed gold cardstock.

As long as I was making one card, I decided to make another with a little variation! I heat embossed the Impression Obsession background stamp with gold embossing powder. The anchor is cut from a gold foil cardstock.

I’m also entering the second card in the Card Concept “Use A Nautical Theme” challenge. My style is Clean and Graphic.

  1. Thank you for the shout out, Jean! I LOVE your cards. The gold anchors are perfect! I saw these first on SN and thought they looked very familiar to my cards in that trends article. 😉

  2. Jean…your talent is endless! These two cards are AMAZING! Clean, simple and gloriously graphic!

I’m completely in awe of your flawless embossing! There is not a stray schmick of embossing powder to be seen! Don’t you just love the texture that the EP created on the stripes!

I’m so glad that you shared your cards with us at the Card Concept Challenge and I’m sure others will be totally inspired by your cards!

  3. Love this card, Jean! I came upon this on the Card Concept blog, but I think it’s funny to see the shout out to Kristie, as I was just looking at her nautical trends article on StampNation earlier today.
