Today, I’m sharing a card inspired by one of Laura Bassen‘s for the Online Card Classes Background Check class.
Laura used embossing paste with a Simon Says Stamp wave stencil for her background, to which she added a Copic-colored swimmer. I dry-embossed the waves with a Memory Box stencil and then added Distress Inks with the stencil still in place. Because the Memory Box stencil width is smaller than an A2 card, I cut the panel with a Lawn Fawn die. I heat-embossed a Stampin’ Up sentiment on black cardstock and cut that with a small Lawn Fawn die. (I’m finding that I use the Lawn Cuts Stitched Rectangle die sets a lot.)
Because I used Distress Inks on the background, I decided to do the same for the sailboat, which I cut from cardstock colored with Candied Apple. I then trimmed off the lower half and adhered the sails to a boat cut from white cardstock.
Supplies:
this is wonderful…love how it just pops.
Oh this is so great, I love boats and the hint of summer in your card is fabulous.
I have that stencil, too, but haven’t tried it yet. You’ve inspired me to try it with the beautiful blue Distress Inks and to add a great boat! This looks really good; I like how you didn’t ink the entire stencil & left some of the cardstock white.
I think I need to get that stencil. Just love this card.
Perfect inking, I love how it fades out in the corner and love the red sails.
Lovely background inking Jean!!!!!!
