To celebrate this release, Spellbinders is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 3 lucky blog readers – selected from the comments across all of the blogs in the hop. Giveaway closes on Sunday, February 10th 11:59 pm EDT. Winners will be announced in the Spellbinders blog hop post the following Monday. Winner is responsible for shipping cost, duties and taxes.

My first project is a shadow box showcasing the Layered Sweet Birdie Thanks Scene.

To begin, I created the shadow box from solid yellow cardstock with the  Shadowbox Frame with 1″ Border die set. The exterior measures 5 3/8″ x 6 5/8″. I covered the frame front with polka dot patterned paper. (The patterned paper was too light to use to construct the shadow box frame pieces.) I backed the assembled frame with a teal polka-dot patterned paper and a piece of chipboard (for stability). I created the layered scene from solid cardstock, using liquid and foam adhesive. To finish, I added Sweet Blooms Paper Flowers for additional texture.

The collection includes several other Layered Scene die sets which create dynamic focal images. They can be easily changed up simply by choosing different colors of cardstock and/or patterned paper. My second project features the Layered Thinking of You Woodland Scene with which I created a CAS masculine card.

I assembled the die-cut pieces and added them to a 4″ x 5″ dry-embossed card base. This card came together in a matter of minutes!

  12. Your shadowbox in bright yellow with teal insert using the Layered Sweet Birdie die is so cute. The colors stand out so well and you highlight the dynamics of using the shadowbox dies very well. I also like the CAS card for its simplicity and what you said about going together quickly. Often an occasion will come up for a card in a hurry and it would be nice to be able to make a card like yours in a short amount of time. Thanks for the great inspiration.

  17. Oh, what fun and sunshiney colors you used on your shadow box! We’re buried in snow right now and the happy colors make me long for flowers and songbirds! & I am wanting to tackle a project with this die set sooo bad!! I am noticing that the “nature” dies will work great in all 4 seasons!! Thanks for the share!! (Happy Spring!)
