Taylored Expressions – Feminine Nautical Card

Hello! I’ve been busy making summer cards and the nautical theme is one of my favorites. My CAS card created with Taylored Expressions products uses a less traditional color combination. (I really like red, white, and blue, and the usual colors for nautical cards, but I wanted to try something a bit different.)

TE Feminine Nautical Card

I stamped the Striped Background in Salt Water Taffy ink on Sugar Cube cardstock. I die-cut a circle in the background panel to expose the heat-embossed Seas the Day sentiment. I added the die-cut Little Bits – Sailboat as an embellishment. When I finished the card needed a little something, so I sprinkled on TE Sequins – Hello Happiness!

Penny Black – Bold CAS Card

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a bold CAS card created with Penny Black stamps and dies.

I cut the 51-235 Swirled Squares from black cardstock and adhered them to Stampin’ Up cardstock squares. To simplify alignment, I taped the squares together on the back. (I first considered adding white space between them, but that design didn’t leave enough margin on the sides and would have been more difficult to keep straight!) I added the assembled square to a card base stamped with one of the sentiments in the 30-418 Stitched Flowers set (a favorite as I’ve used it several times of late). To finish, I added butterflies cut with a die in the 51-132 Flights of Fancy (attached with foam adhesive).

Taylored Expressions June 2017 Release – Happy Summer

Hello! Welcome to the Taylored Expressions June 2017 Release! All of the products that we have been sharing this week are now available in the TE store! Before you head off to shop, I’ve got two more projects to share – one nautical and the other beachy!

My first card features the On the Water – Fishing Boat in a CAS nautical scene.

I stamped the background with the Seas the Day sentiment and added the die-cut boat, fish (included in the boat set), and Build a Scene – Swirly Clouds cloud. To keep it simple, I added just one wave cut with the Build a Scene – Rolling Waves die.

And it’s back to the beach for a Happy Summer card featuring a combination of die cuts showcasing Little Bits – Pineapple.

I cut the Little Bits – Pineapple in three different cardstock colors and added one of the sunglasses from Little Bits – Sunglasses to each. I also added tropical foliage cut with dies in Build a Scene – Tropical to the scene. I used Beach Border (trimmed on the right side to fit the vertical card orientation) for the background. The sentiment is cut with the Happy Summer Banner set.

TE June 2017 Release Sneak Peeks Day Three

Hello! Welcome to Day Three of the Taylored Expressions June Sneak Peeks. Products will be in the store tomorrow – Thursday, June 8 @ 7 AM PST!

My first card, featuring Busy Beaver Stamp & Die Combo, is an ode to Canada celebrating their 150th birthday on July 1st.

I colored the Busy Beaver Stamp & Die Combo images with Copic markers and cut them with their coordinating dies. I printed the flag on my computer printer and added it to a flag pole cut with the Little Bits – Hole in One set. I cut and colored the beaver adding it to a scene cut with Build A Scene – Grassy Hills (on which I heat-embossed the sentiment). The flowers are from the Home Sweet Home Accessories set.

The June 2017 release includes two sets of tracks for creating interactive cards. I used On the Right Track – Basics to create an urban scene featuring On the Road – Scooter.

I cut the track (the On the Right Track – Basics set includes six options) into the Downtown Border. The back section of the scooter is attached to foam adhesive attached to a penny, which moves along a channel created with two strips of foam tape. I die-cut the sentiment with Mini Caps Alpha & #’s and ran the Striped Background the other direction for the card background.

TE June 2017 Release Sneak Peeks Day Two – Hello Sunshine

Hello! Welcome to Day Two of the Taylored Expressions June Sneak Peeks. Today, I’m sharing two tropical-themed cards. This month’s release features a variety of products appropriate for summer projects. Products will be in the store on Thursday, June 8 @ 7 AM PST! Let’s head to the beach!

Living in the Pacific Northwest, anything having to do with sun is appealing and I’m particularly drawn towards beach scenes! My first card combines Beach Border with this month’s release Build a Scene – Tropical.

I trimmed the Beach Border to make room for the palm tree in my scene. I made sure that the hammock strung between the palms was just in front of the Sunshine Cutting Plate. I added the Little Bits – Sandcastle and Little Bits – Pail & Shovel to the foreground on which I stamped the sentiment from the Tropical Trio Stamp & Die Combo set.

My second project, also tropical/beach-themed, showcases the Tropical Blooms Cutting Plate.

I cut the Tropical Blooms Cutting Plate from Sugar Cube cardstock and colored it with Distress Oxide inks using the Clarity Stencil Brushes. (I plan to re-visit a number of other Taylored Expressions Cutting Plates and color them with Distress Oxide inks as I loved the results.) I went back over some of the image with regular Distress Inks and a foam applicator to add a bit of punch. I cut the Little Bits – Flip Flops from cardstock colored with the inks. Additionally, I stamped the Tropical Trio Stamp & Die Combo sentiment on cardstock colored with the inks.
