Simon Says Stamp Best Days Release

Let’s get started! My first project features the Picture Book Crocodile paired with the Picture Book Sky Background, both of which are part of the Best Days release.

Simon Says Stamp BEST DAYS ReleaseTo begin, I colored cardstock with a variety of Distress Oxide inks (Lucky Clover, Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough). I die-cut the Picture Book Crocodile from the colored cardstock and assembled the pieces on black cardstock backing so that the eyes would show through. I also colored cardstock with Peacock Feathers and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide inks. From that colored cardstock, I cut out the Picture Book Sky Background four times, inlaying it with white cardstock clouds.

The sentiment from the Oh Bunny stamp set was stamped on to a panel which I colored with Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide ink and cut with one of the dies in the Arched Stitching Borders set. I am a big fan of all of the Picture Book animals and can’t wait to pair the Crocodile with other dies in the series.

My second project showcases the Oh Bunny stamp set and corresponding die set.

I inked one of the images in the Oh Bunny stamp set with Peacock Feathers and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide inks. I then stamped the sweet faces included in the Oh Bunny stamp set on to the bunnies. Once finished with the stamping, I cut the image with its corresponding die.

I placed the bunnies on to a background, on which I had applied Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, and stamped one of the fun sentiments in the Oh Bunny set. To finish off the card, I added clouds cut with the Picture Book Sky Background die and hearts from the Oh Bunny set. I created the card base with paper in the Carta Bella Spring Market 6 x 6 paper pad.

My final project is an Easter tag featuring several different bunnies from the Oh Bunny stamp set.

I stamped the bunny on the left with Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide ink and the one on the right with Squeezed Lemonade. After stamping their faces, I cut the bunnies with their corresponding dies. I used a Lawn Fawn tag die to cut the tag from a background which I had inked with Broken China Distress Oxide ink. I applied Lucky Clover Distress Oxide ink to cardstock on which I then heat-embossed the Easter sentiment from the Oh Bunny stamp set.  I cut the hill with one of the dies in the Drifted Stitched Borders set, as well as the same Lawn Fawn tag die.

Here is the list of designers sharing their Best Days creations today:

Simon Says Stamp Kaleidoscope Leaves Background – Count Our Blessings

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a CAS encouragement/friendship card that showcases the Simon Says Stamp Kaleidoscope Background stamp.

SSS Kaleidoscope Leaves Background

To create the background I inked cardstock with Wild Honey, Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide inks. I then stamped the Kaleidoscope Background with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink (not Oxide).

I white heat-embossed a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp You Got This set on dark gray cardstock, popping it up with foam adhesive. I have used this sentiment set several times now on cards showcasing background stamps, including on this card and on this one.

Newton’s Nook Book Club – A Watercolored Version

Hello. Today, I am sharing a CAS card created with the Newton’s Nook Newton’s Book Club stamp set.

Newton’s Nook Book Club - A Watercolored Version

A few weeks ago, I shared a card using a different image from the same stamp set (the set contains three cute cat images); on that version, I colored the cat image with Copic markers. For this version, I stamped the cat image on Arches Hot Press Watercolor Paper with VersaFine ink and watercolored the image with Distress Inks and Distress Ink Markers. I used patterned papers from my stash to add visual variety to the card base.

Mama Elephant CAS Easter Card

Hello! Today, I am sharing a CAS Easter card showcasing one of the cute bunnies from the Mama Elephant Honey Bunny set.

I stamped the bunny and colored him (her?) with Copic markers, as well as colored pencils. To create the cloud background, I made a stencil from vellum using the cloud die in the Landscape Trio set and two of the cloud dies in the Build a Scene – Rolling Clouds set. I sponged white pigment ink  with a sponge dauber on to Memory Box cardstock (now retired). For the bottom half of the card, I stamped the Hero Arts Five Line Background (retired, but still available in a couple of stores online) in Celery ink on Memory Box cardstock (now retired).

Paint Resist Technique

Hello! Today, I am sharing a CAS encouragement/friendship card that uses the paint resist technique.

Paint Resist Technique

I applied Picket Fence paint to an older Hero Arts stamp – Leaf and Floral Background – and stamped the image on white cardstock. Once the paint was dry, I applied Peacock Feathers and Faded Jeans inks. I then wiped away the painted areas with a slightly damp paper towel. This technique gives a subtler resist than heat-embossing the image.

I cut the panel with a die from a retired MFT Blueprints set. I stamped the sentiment, from the Simon Says Stamp You Got This set, with Mama Elephant Smoke ink.
