CAS Mixed Media Friendship card

Today I’m sharing a CAS friendship card featuring an umbrella die cut against a background created with a raindrop stencil and embossing paste.

Jean Manis Life Is GoodAfter stamping the card base, I applied embossing paste, which I colored with Salty Ocean Distress Ink, through the Raindrops stencil (I selectively masked off portions of the stencil so that the umbrella would appear to be keeping the sentiment dry. Once the embossing paste dried, I adhered the umbrella die cut. The canopy of the umbrella was cut from cardstock which I had colored with a combination of Distress Inks (reds and a little yellow) for a different project.

Penny Black Simplicity Floral Valentine

Today, I’m sharing a Valentine’s Day card created with Penny Black stamps and dies. Valentine’s Day seems to have arrived quickly this year!

VellumHeart

I applied a combination of pink Distress Inks to the 40-389 Bramble stamp, stamping in both the lower-right and upper-left corners of the card base. I die-cut the 51-182 Fancy Heart from white cardstock and adhered it over a piece of vellum cut in the heart shape, to soften the stamped portion underneath it. To finish, I heat-embossed a sentiment from the 30-229 Special Wishes stamp set and added hearts cut with the 51-100 Tree of Love die.

I used the sketch to create a CAS Congratulations card, perfect for graduation (you could change the colors of the balloon to reflect school colors), a new job or a promotion (just to name a few reasons to send a Congratulations card)!

I cut the balloon with the Sky High – Hot Air Balloons die three times, inlaying the colored cardstock panels into the balloon outline (I put Scotch tape on the back of the balloon outline to hold the colored cardstock pieces).

I used a sentiment from the Welcome Home set which I die cut with the banner in the Build a House set. The background panel was dry-embossed with the Cloudy Days folder and a frame cut with a die in the Frame in Frame Cutting Plate set finished it off.

I used the sketch and kept it Clean & Simple, creating a “Hello” card with die cut flowers and sentiment:

After a week of rain here in the Pacific Northwest, these bright flowers make me happy! I did a bit of pruning on the Leafy Branch, before tucking it behind the flowers.

Penny Black Simplicity CAS Valentine

Today, I’m sharing a CAS Valentine’s Day card created with Penny Black stamps and dies.

CAS Valentine

To begin, I cut the window using the Penny Black 51-135 ironwork window die inside a cardstock rectangle. (The side edges of the window do not get cut, providing lots of flexibility on how to use the die.) I heat-embossed a sentiment from the 30-269 so very much set on the bottom of the panel with silver embossing powder.

I backed the panel with yellow cardstock and attached hearts to the front of the window. The hearts were cut with the 51-100 tree of love die from watercolor paper, which I had colored with Ranger Barn Door Distress Spray.

To finish, I attached the frame to a dry-embossed panel.
