Colour Me #56 Playful

Today, I’m sharing a card made for the Colour Me Challenge with Penny Black supplies.

I went back and forth on the colors, trying to decided which element should be which color, especially the yellow and orange. Although the elements are well-suited for Valentine’s Day, they’d work for any season! In this case I was thinking about spring.

I used Penny Black’s 51-100 Tree of Love as a branch on which to place the bird, cut with the 51-094 Tweets die. The frame was created with the 51-057 Polaroid die onto which I heat embossed a sentiment from 30-269 So Very Much.

Colour Me Striking

Today, I’m playing along with the Colour Me Challenge.

Even though the color scheme feels “Fourth of July” (or any other patriotic holiday) I thought it would be fun for a Valentine’s Day card. With one of the punny sentiments from Reverse Confetti Sugary Sweet Sentiments set as my starting point, I cut two suckers with my Silhouette and decorated them with hearts cut from Love Note, keeping in the color scheme.

The bow was cut using a die in the Tagged Tote Confetti Cuts set.

ColourQ #275

I’m playing along with ColourQ #275 with a Reverse Confetti sentiment stamp and RC Confetti Cuts.

I really like stretching my color preferences with these challenges. The navy and pink combination feels preppy to me (Lily Pulitzer), and it was those two colors I wanted to use most on the card.

I added accents of the Wisteria Wonder with the hearts and the tag circle. I cut the hearts by first cutting five hearts with the Love Note die, then putting three hearts into the die and cutting again, which cleanly cut off two of the hearts. The arrow was cut in half and taped to the back of the tag.

The card measures 4 1/4″ square.

CAS(E) this Sketch #106

Today, I have a card to share for the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge where I’m a guest artist.

For my card, I paired die-cut stars with a heat-embossed Stampin’ Up sentiment.

I was inspired by the geometrical feeling of the crisscrossed “x” shapes. I cut the stars in three different shades of blue to create an ombré effect.

Be sure to visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see the Design Team inspiration and to play along!

Penny Black Hooray Skyline

Today I’m sharing a card made entirely with Penny Black dies that would be appropriate to celebrate a variety of events such as a birthday or a promotion.

For the background, I made a stencil with the smaller cloud in the Penny Black 51-033 Silver Linings set. I used a sponge dauber to apply white pigment ink through the stencil onto blue cardstock.

I created the skyline with the 51-017 Downtown die. I backed the die cut with white cardstock.

I cut the balloons with the Penny Black 51-004 Uplifting die set. I cut each color twice (for extra depth) and attached thread to their backs. I taped the threads to the blue panel and then attached the skyline over them.

I cut the sentiment twice using 51-038 Hooray. After adhering the sentiment to the skyline, I added some Wink of Stella for a bit of shimmer.
