Monkey Business – Die-cut “Just Because” Card

Hello! Today I am sharing a “just because” card combining monkey-themed supplies.

Monkey Business - Die-cut "Just Because" Card

  • I die-cut the Elizabeth Crafts monkey from Bazzill Chocolate Malt (face) and SU Chocolate Chip (body) and assembled him with glue. I tried a number of combinations for the face and body. If I were to die-cut the monkey again, I would consider cutting him from inked cardstock.
  • I used a circle punch to cut the mouth. I used a hexagon punch to cut the nose.
  • I stamped the Monkey Business sentiment and cut the white cardstock with a circle die.
  • I cut another circle in the same yellow as the banana for a mat.
  • I dry-embossed the card background with the Tropical Leaves stencil. Initially I tried an inked background (with the stencil) in green, but the orange worked much better with the colors used for the monkey.
  • I added the monkey and banana with foam adhesive.

Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Kit – Besties Forever

Hello and happy July! Today, I am sharing two CAS projects created with the July Small Die of the Month kit from Spellbinders – “Besties Forever” ($12.50 with US shipping included in the cost!). The dies to create the cat and dog are included in the kit, as well as the grass border die, the sentiment dies, and the two bone dies.

On my first card, I used both the cat and dog dies included in the set, along with the “Besties Forever” die-cut sentiment, to create a friendship card.

  • I cut the pieces for the dog and cat and assembled the pieces with glue. I used my rotary trimmer to cut the cat’s whiskers. It took some experimentation to get the right size for these.
  • I cut the bones and glued them to the light-blue background.
  • I cut the grass and attached it to the background.
  • I added the die-cut sentiments with glue and the assembled cat and dog with foam adhesive.

On my second card, I used color and repetition to create a friendship card with the cat dies. It would be easy to do something similar with the dog faces and a dog-themed sentiment.

  • I cut the cat faces and collars from a variety of cardstock colors.
  • I assembled the pieces with glue.
  • I heat-embossed the sentiment and cut it with a circle die.
  • I attached the cats to the circle and attached the circle to the card base, which measures 5″ x 5″ with a 4 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ blue square background.

Hello Sunshine – Die-cut Tropical-themed Card

Hello! Today, I am sharing a tropical-themed card created from a variety of products in my stash.

Hello Sunshine - Die-cut Tropical-themed Card

  • My starting point for the card was the Newton’s Nook Tropical Leaves stencil which I sponged with Shabby Shutters ink on Easter Grass cardstock.
  • I used the Penny Black Poinsettia die to cut the blooms from SU Melon Mambo and Bazzill Circus Peanuts. The centers were cut from Marshmallow Chick. I used the Penny Black Flower Frolic die to cut the greenery from SU Gumball Green (now retired) and attached the blooms to the greenery with foam adhesive.
  • I heat-embossed the FSJ Touch the Sky sentiment on to white cardstock which I cut with a circle die.
  • For whatever reason, I’ve been feeling the need to add sequins to my cards lately. I tried a number of different colors before choosing yellow sequins from Doodlebug.

Thanks for stopping by!

Spellbinders June Small Die Kit Club – Christmas Card

Hello! Today I am sharing a CAS Christmas card created with the Spellbinders Small Die of the Month die set “Kaleidoscope Trio” (June 2019). This card was just a happy accident; I didn’t set out to make a Christmas card! My first round of cards created with this die set can be found in this post.

  • For the back layer, I cut white cardstock with the die set’s hexagon bottom die.
  • I used one of the detailed hexagon dies to cut the top layer from Lawn Fawn Peacock, Stampin’ Up Melon Mambo, and Gina K Tranquil Teal cardstock.
  • I used spray adhesive to adhere the top layers to the back layers. I then taped the hexagons together on the back.
  • I stamped the All Year Long sentiment on to a Simon Says Stamp Sea Glass panel with FSJ Fusion ink.
  • I attached the “snowflake” assembly to the card base with spray adhesive.
  • I added sequins for sparkle and to help fill in the white space.

Spellbinders/FSJ Hello Summer

Hello! Today I’m delighted to be sharing three cards over on the Spellbinders blog featuring new summer-themed products, part of the Hello Summer – Splash Zone Collection. I’m a big fan of anything ocean-themed and fascinated the different takes on that theme in papercrafting – nautical, tropical, and everything in-between.

The details on how I created the cards can be found in this post. I hope you’ll head on over to learn more and leave a comment. Below, I’ve shared photos of the projects and the supply list.
