Penny Black Special Day

Today, I’m sharing a card suitable for a variety of celebrations, (graduations, birthdays, and first days back-to-school come immediately to mind), created with Penny Black die cuts and stamps.

SpecialDay

I die cut the balloons with the Penny Black  51-004 Uplifting die set and used dimensional adhesive to create depth with the balloons. The number frame is cut with a die from the 51-056 Picture This set. I stamped the sentiment, from the Penny Black 30-171 Cupcakes set, onto the card base. I drew the balloon strings with a ruler on a sky blue cardstock panel with a Faber-Castell PITT artist pen.

Hope you’re having a special day!

The Cutting Edge Challenge #5

It’s time for the another Cutting Edge Challenge! Our inspiration this week is an amazing card created by Design Team member Melania Deasy.

I was inspired by her beautiful clustering and use of color. Here’s my take:

The Cutting Edge Challenge #5

I used the Lil’ Inker stitched butterflies die set and a Lil’ Inker sentiment to create my card. I cut the butterflies in three sizes in a variety of cardstock colors, and then began to put them together in a manner that would give justice to the subtle combination on Melania’s card. (Let’s just say that my work table, aka the kitchen table, has a pile of butterflies on it!) I cut a white panel at 4″ x 5 1/4″ for the elements and added it to a white card base.

Poppystamps Twinery Blog Hop

Welcome! If you’ve been hopping along on the Poppystamps & The Twinery Blog Hop, you should have arrived at my blog from the blog of Stacey Schafer.

Here’s my card combining a Poppystamps die and twine from The Twinery.

Poppystamps Twinery Blog Hop

I paired the Poppystamps Superstar Border with twine in Maraschino Stripe and Midnight Blue from The Twinery. I cut the Superstar Border in white, red, and blue cardstock, replacing the stars in the white border with red and blue ones. The border section sits on top of a cardstock strip around which I wrapped the red and blue twine. The sentiment was created on my computer. It is printed onto the card base to which I attached the wrapped twine panel and die cut border.

Next on the blog hop list is the blog of Melyssa Connolly.

There are prizes! The Twinery is offering a Metallic Sampler Pack ($32 retail value ). Poppystamps is giving away the Frozen Flakes and the Elsa Butterfly Branch dies ($26.50 retail value). For details on how to enter to win, visit

Penny Black Pocket Treasures

Today, I’m changing direction a bit – I’m sharing pocket scrapbooking pages created with products from the recent Penny Black Pocket Treasures release.

Before I made cards, I scrapbooked, and before that, I kept photo albums. The pocket scrapbooking pages work well for my current memory keeping style. I like the ability to create my own journaling cards and a few embellishments with the Pocket Treasures dies and stamps, using my card making tools, (die cutting machine and punches), and supplies, (patterned paper, solid cardstock and twine).

My husband and eldest son just spent several days in NYC taking in the sights, and the pages below capture some of their visit (I have several more pages started documenting the rest of their trip).

Let’s take a more detailed look at some of the journaling cards and embellishments.

I used the Tagged #51-007 die to create a large journaling spot. I added a die-cut quote from A Pocket Full #51-053. I often add maps to my scrapbook pages. I stamped the Let’s Chat #30-244 location indicator and cut it with the coordinating die from Tabs & Toggles #51-051.

I stamped a sentiment from Remember This #30-246 with Staz-On ink directly onto the photo. I stamped the camera from Bon Voyage #30-224 and cut it with a 1″ circle punch.

I die cut a tab with Tabs & Toggles #51-051 and stamped it with a sentiment from Life’s Journals #30-247. I attached it to the photo with a Tiny Attacher. I die cut a journaling card with A Pocket Full #51-053 and added the stamped sentiment from Remember This #30-246.

I die cut the frame from Polaroid #51-057 and put it over a photo. I added it to a journaling card stamped with a sentiment and ledger lines from Life’s Journals #30-247. I cut the number frame from Picture This #51-056 and paired it with a journaling card.

Thanks for joining me in this departure from cardmaking!

Penny Black Bon Voyage

Today, I’m sharing a card created with the new Penny Black Bon Voyage #30-224 stamp set – perfect for summer travel cards or scrapbook layouts!

Penny Black Bon Voyage

I paired the stamped and Copic-colored Vespa with balloons cut using the Uplifting #51-004 die set. I cut each balloon twice and used dimensional adhesive on some to create a variety of depths. The balloon strings were drawn by hand.

Have a fabulous Friday!
