Watercolored Penny Black Floral

Hello! Today I am sharing a floral card watercolored with Zig Clean Color Brush markers.

I stamped Penny Black’s Sweet Perfume (this is an older cling stamp which appears to be retired) with Versafine ink on Canson Montval paper. I colored the image with a variety of Zig markers including Carmine, Light Carmine, Yellow, Bright Yellow, Orange, Light Green, May Green, and Persian Blue.

Once dry, I trimmed the watercolored panel to 4 1/2″ wide by 5 1/2″ tall.

I stamped and heat-embossed the sentiment from the Sentiment Collection set and cut it with the smaller tag in the 51-007 Tagged die set. I cut the tag reinforcement piece from black cardstock. I attached the tag to the background with dimensional adhesive and used twine to finish off the card.

Penny Black Flower Cascade

Hello! Today I am sharing a watercolored card featuring Penny Black’s Flower Cascade stamp. I have been watercoloring recently and this image came immediately to mind as something with which to practice.

Penny Black Flower Cascade

  • I stamped the image on Canson Montval watercolor paper with Versafine ink.
  • I watercolored the image with Zig markers.
  • Once dry I stamped the panel with a sentiment in the Penny Black Special Sentiments set (I’ve been using this set a lot lately).

Penny Black – Watercolored Flower Teddy

Hello! Today I am sharing two cards showcasing the Penny Black “Flower Teddy” stamp set. I recently had some time to watercolor (during a power outage) and decided to tackle this image.

Penny Black - Watercolored Flower Teddy

On the first card:

  • I stamped the image on Cold Press paper with VersaFine ink.
  • I used a variety of Distress Inks to color the image (I have three storage tins full of the mini pads), as well as Kuretake watercolors.
  • Once dry, I fussy cut the image.
  • I used patterned paper for the 4 1/2″ square card base to which I added a dry-embossed 4″ circle. I added the teddy bear image with foam adhesive.
  • I heat-embossed the sentiment and cut it with a banner die.

On the second card:

  • I stamped the image on Hot Press paper with VersaFine ink.
  • I colored the image with Distress Ink and Kuretake watercolors.
  • Once dry, I stamped the sentiment with VersaFine ink and cut the image, on which I had added a blue wash background, to 4″ square.
  • I added the watercolored panel to a 4 1/4″ square dry-embossed background.

Ideally I would be practicing watercolor, Zig market coloring, and/or Copic coloring on a weekly basis!

Penny Black – Thank You Bunches

Hello! Today, I am sharing a garden-themed card created with Penny Black products. I’ve combined die-cut elements from the Penny Black “A Garden” set with a sentiment from “Special Sentiments.”

Penny Black - Thank You Bunches

    • I colored white cardstock with Distress Oxide inks and cut out the individual pieces.
    • I assembled the pieces with glue.
    • I stamped the sentiment on the card base and added Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink to the center of the panel.
    • I adhered the shelves and the items on the shelves to the card.

With different colors, different arrangements, and a different sentiment (or even the same one), you could create a completely different card. I went bold with my colors, as teal and red are two of my favorite colors to use on cards.

Penny Black Hanging Planters

Hello! Today, I am sharing a CAS card showcasing the Penny Black Hanging Planters die set. Who knew macrame would make a comeback?! I remember learning how to macrame in the early 1970s. My mother bought at least one macrame book with complicated patterns for massive wall hangings (which we never made).

Penny Black Hanging Planters

  • I heat-embossed one of my favorite sentiments (Stitched Flowers set) on SU Dapper Denim cardstock.
  • I cut the frame, using a 4″ x 5 1/4″ rectangle die (from a now-retired MFT Blueprints set) and the largest oval in the Spellbinders Oval Nestabilities set, from Gina K Coral Reef cardstock (included in the multi-pack). I dry-embossed the frame with the Taylored Expressions Weathered embossing folder.
  • I cut the planters from Gina K Turquoise Sea. The plants were cut from Gina K Lucky Clover (included in the multi-pack) and SU Cucumber Crush cardstock. I cut the macrame hangers from SU Very Vanilla. The small flowers were cut from SU Poppy Parade and Gina K Coral Reef. I assembled the pieces with glue.
  • I assembled the heat-embossed panel, the frame, and the planters and adhered the assembly to a SU Very Vanilla card base.
