Penny Black Cityscape Scene

Ever since seeing Julie Ebersole’s fabulous card, using the Penny Black “A Day in Paris” stamp set, in the Online Card Classes CAS 3 course, I’ve been wanting to made a card with a scene.

Using stamps from the Penny Black Fashion Tweet [#30-233] set and a stencil made with the Penny Black Silver Linings [#51-033] die cut, I created a birthday card.

The car, the cake, a few of the windows, and the horizon line were painted with various stamp inks and a brush. I used as little water as possible since the card base is cardstock, rather than watercolor paper. For the clouds, I used a sponge dauber to apply ink through the stencil I made with the die cut. (It’s the smaller of the two clouds in the set.)

To finish the card, I stamped the “#celebrate” sentiment, included with the stamp set, on a red cardstock rectangle, which I adhered inside the card. This card makes me want to say “beep, beep”!

Penny Black Stenciling on Watercolor

When I saw Alexandra’s use of the Penny Black Verdant stencil on a watercolored background, I couldn’t wait to try the technique. She included her panel on a scrapbooking page; I adhered mine to a cardstock base for a card.

I created my watercolor background with a combination of Distress Inks in shades of blue. I picked the ink up from my craft mat, after diluting it a bit, and brushed the ink onto the watercolor paper. After the watercolor panel dried, I carefully taped the Penny Black Verdant stencil [#25-003] and applied Faber Castell Whipped Spackle. The embossing paste dries quite quickly. I die cut the “Hugs” from Penny Black’s Love Expressions [#51-025] set twice to give the sentiment a bit more depth.

What’s fun about this technique is that every card is different!

Penny Black: “Hi There”

Today, I’m sharing a CAS card, suited for any occasion, crafted with some of the new goodies from the Penny Black “Happy Everything” release.

HiThere

I die cut the feather from the feather & frames [#51-039] set in a variety of blue and gray cardstock colors and paired them with a heat embossed sentiment from the kind words [#30-226] set. The feathers are adhered to the card base with dimensional adhesive.

Penny Black Thank You

Today I’m sharing a card that combines an image from a Crafter’s Workshop stencil with a new stamp and die from Penny Black’s “Happy Everything” release.

I stamped the Penny Black Decadence stamp [#40-254] for the background. For the focal image, I used silver embossing paste on a portion of the Crafter’s Workshop Birds of a Feather stencil. The sentiment is from the new Penny Black stamp set Kind Words [#30-226] that I die cut with one of the dies in the Triple Banner set [#51-027].

Penny Black Hugs

Today I’m sharing two projects featuring the Penny Black “Hugs” die from Love Expressions [#51-025].

On the card, I stamped and fussy-cut hearts from Heart Swatches [#30-204]. I added the “Hugs” sentiment and dragonfly from Flutters [#51-006], both cut out of silver cardstock, to a dry-embossed card base. I wanted to use non-traditional Valentine’s Day colors for a spring-themed friendship card.

For my second project, I added the die cut “Hugs” to a tag cut with the largest tag in the Tagged [#51-007] die cut set. I created the ombré heart pattern using a stamp from the My Type [#40-189] set. I attached the tag to a bag of chocolates for Valentine’s Day.
