Sparks Challenge – Anything Goes

With spring on my mind,  I fashioned a card for the current Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge “Anything Goes” with things associated with spring — bunnies, chicks, and sunny skies!

Paper Smooches Spark Challenge

Today, I’m sharing a project created for the Paper Smooches Sparks Picture Perfect Challenge.

I interpreted the picture loosely, drawing on the general theme of love and the colors – gold, two shades of pink and gray.

I stamped two floral images from the newly released Botanicals sets, framing the panel with the Frame Duo die. I heat-embossed a sentiment with gold powder, and finished the card with two hearts cut from the Hearts die set out of gold cardstock.

Gray and Pink Valentines

Ever since the beginning of the year, I’ve been thinking a lot about color. I really like gray and pink together. I like gray and red together as well, but while playing with some Paper Smooches stamps and die cuts for Valentine’s Day cards, I preferred the pink to the red.

For my first card, I stamped the Geo-Graphic border with white pigment ink on the charcoal card base and added the frame (the die cuts both a frame and an interior piece) to showcase the stamped heart. The vellum helps accentuate the heart.

For the second card, I used the “hello” from the Quote tag die cut set – really like the font of this sentiment die, as well as the “love” in the stamped heart above. The Lifestyle Crafts embossing folder leaves a wide border for a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card (and the hearts aren’t oriented to do a top-folding card) so I trimmed the embossed panel and adhered it to a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card base.

There’s a challenge over at the Papers Smooches Sparks site – this week’s theme is “Anything Goes.” I’m entering the second card in the challenge.

Paper Smooches Sparks Trend Watch challenge

This week’s Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge is to use the picture below as inspiration for a card that is VINTAGE.

After a lot of ideas swirled through my head, I became inspired by the vintage papers in Basic Grey’s “Paper Cottage” collection. I love the soft teal, gold, and dark gray. I imagined the snowman from “Freezy Fellas,” who I feel is vintage-y in his top hat, greeting spring by protecting himself with a parasol from the sun. Instead of hiding from the new season, he’s ready for it!
