Taylored Expressions SJC #28

I’m playing along with the Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge #28.

Taylored Expressions SJC #28

I used the sketch to create a CAS card suitable for a number of celebratory situations, such as an engagement.

I stamped and heat-embossed the blooms from Happily Ever After and cut them with their corresponding Happily Ever After Dies. I watercolored the two larger blooms with several mediums, including Distress Inks and Zig markers. The greenery was cut from vellum and tucked behind the blooms. I added a center to the gold bloom which I cut from watercolored cardstock with one of the Mini Bloomers dies. The sentiment was cut from gold paper and adhered to white cardstock. I finished the card off with a dry-embossed background for additional texture.

Penny Black Simplicity: Die-Cut Bouquet

Today, I’m sharing a die-cut encouragement card created with Penny Black stamps and dies. I also created a “sister” version of this card (same design with a few tweaks) which is being shown today over on the Penny Black Simplicity site. I hope you’ll head over there and take a look.

Penny Black Simplicity Die Cut Bouquet

To create this bouquet, I started by die-cutting the floral pieces from green cardstock with the 51-199 Flower Bunch die set. With the same die, I cut the pieces from cardstock in red and two shades of pink. Then I adhered trimmed flowers to the green cardstock pieces.

I die cut 51-142 Mason Jar twice from light blue paper. With detail scissors, I trimmed the top of one of the Mason jars to create a faux opening. I sponged light blue ink on the Mason jar to give the appearance of water.

I arranged the floral pieces on the bottom Mason jar and adhered them with Scotch tape. I adhered the top Mason jar to the assembly with foam adhesive. I die-cut white cardstock with a die in the 51-053 A Pocket Full set (the spiral notebook paper) and created a oval cast shadow with gray ink.

The card base was dry-embossed, and I added color (and pattern) with a strip of paper from the 80-009 Painted Blooms paper pad. I heat-embossed a sentiment from 30-288 Pretty Petals on gray cardstock and added that to the panel with foam adhesive.

After I created this card, I thought about how to change it by coloring the floral pieces with Distress Inks (rather than cutting them from colored cardstock). That was the starting point for the other version of this card on the Penny Black Simplicity site.

Floral Appreciation Card

The sun is out here in the Pacific Northwest and spring is definitely just around the corner. For the card I’m sharing today, I combined Distress-inked die-cut pieces with a Paper Smooches sentiment to create an appreciation or friendship card.

I even Distress-inked the turquoise strip onto which I heat-embossed the sentiment.

Distress Ink Die-Cut Blooms

With spring less than a week away, I’m sharing a Thank You card created with die-cut blooms colored with a variety of Distress Inks.

Distress Ink Die Cuts

I cut the bloom overlays with dies in the Essentials by Ellen Bold Blossom Stand-Alone set from white cardstock. I colored the other pieces, which had been cut with dies in the Bold Blooms Matching set, with Distress inks. I cut a square from the card front panel after stamping it with a sentiment from the Hero Arts Oh Snap stamp set. The top panel was attached to the floral panel with foam adhesive to create a shadow box.

Shake It Up – Taylored Expressions Birthday Card

Today, I’m sharing a masculine birthday shaker card featuring Taylored Expressions products.

Taylored Expressions Birthday Shaker Card

I made this card with my youngest son (not so young anymore!) in mind, as he has an upcoming birthday. His favorite colors vary, but he likes orange and gray together (and silver), so that’s what I used.

I cut the balloon shapes with the die from the Party Time set out of the orange card base. I also cut the balloon shapes from foam. I adhered an Acrylic Sheet to the back of the orange panel and then attached the foam cut-outs to the acrylic (carefully arranging them behind the panel). I filled the shapes with a combination of sequins from several sets, looking for ones that were white, clear or silver. I also wanted to make sure that I had a variety of sizes. I then backed the foam pieces with cardstock to hold in the sequins.

I adhered the numbers cut from Poppy Seed with the Chunky #’s die set to the acrylic front. To fill out the scene, I added stars and balloon strings cut from Shimmer White cardstock to the panel. I finished the card with a heat-embossed sentiment from the In & Out Birthday set, cut with a Stitched Banner Stacklets die, and a frame cut from silver cardstock (in the Premium Cardstock – Metallic Neutrals pack) with a Frame in Frame Cutting Plate die.

It’s an understated use of sequins to add a little fun to the card!
