Penny Black Simplicity Sister

Happy December! I am thrilled to announce that I am one of the new Simplicity Sisters for Penny Black!! There is a new blog dedicated to using Penny Black stamps and creative dies in a clean and simple way.

To celebrate I created a CAS holiday card in one of my favorite color schemes with the 51-062 Leap of Joy die cut taking center stage. I stamped the background with a sentiment from 30-132 Yuletide Greetings.

  1. Congratulations on being a Simplicity Sister for Penny Black!! Your work is perfect for showcasing their wonderful stamps and dies. I am excited to be inspired by more and more clean and simple art!!

  2. Fabulous news – congrats, Jean! You are a great addition to a super team. I am really excited about the Simplicity idea from PB for those of us who love CAS and your card is great. Love the colour combo and the elegant die cut…..is it too late for me to buy even more Christmas supplies?!?

  3. I love this card, and I plan to make it my Christmas card. What color and kind of ink did you use on the background?

    1. Hi Anne, This particular card I created for my blog, rather than the Simplicty site.

I used Versamark ink for a tone-on-tone effect on the background. (That effect seems to work best on the darker cardstocks.)

I put the sentiment stamp on a Fiskars press so that I could easily line up the sentiment. I tried to move back and forth a bit for some variation with the text.I cut the reindeer twice and used 2-in-1 glue to adhere the two die cuts together. I cut the white circle with a circle die.

Let me know what else you need to know!
