Hello! Today I’m sharing two takes on the same design. I’ve used the Penny Black #51-560 Here Comes… and #51-459 Neighborhood Border dies to create Christmas scenes.
On my first take, I created a card base from patterned paper. The #51-459 Neighborhood Border was cut from white cardstock and backed with a soft yellow. I cut Santa and his sleigh from red cardstock. I added a heat-embossed sentiment from the #30-384 Rejoice stamp set.
On my second take, I used non-traditional colors. You may also notice that the Neighborhood Border is shifted a bit.
The card base is dry-embossed turquoise blue. The #51-459 Neighborhood Border was cut from dark pink cardstock and backed with a bright yellow. I cut Santa and his sleigh from white cardstock. I heat-embossed a sentiment from the #30-616 Thrill of Hope stamp set directly on to the Neighborhood Border (this method is a bit trickier than adding a banner, as I did in the first card).
On both cards, I added snowflakes cut with dies in the #51-268 A Blizzard and #51-080 Around Town sets.
I don’t always have the time to try out different color schemes, although it’s something I always take into consideration (as in, I’m thinking about other options). One of my favorite card types is a scene, so these cards were a lot of fun to make.
great scenes.
Such fun scenes with Santa & sleigh, Jean! Especially love the red sleigh on the patterned paper!!
Love that red sleigh! The two cards really look different even though the same great color scheme was used.
