SCC2: Week Two, Day Two

There were lots of wonderful techniques shown in today’s Online Card Classes Summer Card Camp 2. I chose to CASE Donna Mikasa’s card showing the technique of clear embossing on colored cardstock.

SCC2: Week Two, Day Two

It took me a few tries to find the right combination of cardstocks to match this week’s colors, as well as to work with this technique. I tried a lighter blue and the result was an almost invisible flower! I also arrived at this sentiment after trying something that had a lighter-weight font. The lighter-weight font was lost with the weight of the flowers and leaves.

Pinspired Challenge #10

Welcome! It’s time for another Pinspired Challenge. The photo is for you to interpret anyway you want. Be inspired by the colors, the style, the theme – it’s up to you!

This challenge is sponsored by Bossy Joscie Flair who is offering the winner a $20 gift certificate to her online store.

For my card, I drew from the strong colors. I’ve never made a card with a photo before. Once I added the heart flair to the center of the stamped camera, it seemed only natural to add a photo. And my husband and our golden retriever certainly do make me smile.

Now, it’s your turn. Head on over to the Pinspired Challenges blog to see the creations from the rest of the “Pin Heads” and find out the details for playing along. Three runner ups will be chosen and win a “Pin Pal” badge for their blog. A winner, who will also be chosen by the “Pin Heads,” will win a “Pin Perfect” badge for their blog along with the prize from Bossy Joscie. We can’t wait to see your creations!

Simple Congratulations

I’ve had the Avery Elle Sentimental Swirls stamp set for a couple of weeks, but I hadn’t had a chance to take it out for a spin. As I was running errands this morning, I thought about the idea of pairing a simple sentiment with a partially dry-embossed card front. (Some of my most creative thoughts occur while I’m driving my car.)

To make the card a tad more elegant, I decided to emboss the sentiment with a metallic powder.

Simple Congratulations

When I was done with that one, I made another with silver embossing powder!

I drew from the strong pink color and the floral bouquets shown in the inspiration photo.

Splish Splash

The CAS-ual Fridays Challenge this week is to create a project featuring something you might see in or at the ocean. What a perfect challenge for the month of August. I love almost anything associated with the ocean – the colors, the animal and plant life, the sound of the waves crashing on the beach, … I could probably craft cards with this theme for weeks!

For this card, I paired Paper Smooches adorable “Surf and Turf” stamps with the newly released Avery Elle “Picture It!” stamp set.
