Merry Monday: Silent Night

Today I’m sharing a card created for the Merry Monday Challenge. The theme this week is Silent Night.

I was drawn to the lovely scene of houses in the woods. I decided to make just one house red (Home & Hearth by Ellen Hutson) so as not to overpower the tranquility of the scene. I used Lawn Fawn stitched hills for the snowbanks.

I really enjoy crafting to themes like this, especially during the holidays. There’s some great inspiration from the DT over at Merry Monday.

Hello Fall in the Pacific Northwest

Today, I’m sharing a just-for-fun card depicting a typical scene in my neck of the woods, with some artistic license, of course! We’re surrounded by beautiful pine/fir/cedar forest and a scene with a blue sky, evergreen background, and a picket fence isn’t uncommon.

I stylized this scene with a black cat and pumpkins!

Hello Fall in the Pacific Northwest

I cut everything twice and attached the two layers with the 2-Way Glue Pen. I also used dimensional adhesive on the cat and a few of the pumpkins to create even more depth. Hope you’re having a wonderful fall (or perhaps spring?) day!

Supplies: Stampin’ Up sentiment; Stampin’ Up Baked Brown Sugar cardstock; Stampin’ Up dimensional adhesive; Impression Obsession dies: Fir Tree Border, Pumpkin Patch, Picket Fence, Cat Set, Clouds

Freshly Made Sketches #157 – Halloween

I used a Memory Box die set – Trick or Treaters – for the focal point, pairing it with a Stampin’ Up sentiment and patterned paper from We R Memory Keepers. I particularly like how this sketch uses pattern. (I have a lot of patterned paper and often look for ways to use it.) Hope you’re having a terrific weekend!

The Cutting Edge Challenge #12

It’s time for another Cutting Edge Challenge! Our inspiration this week is an amazing card created by Design Team member Amy Kolling.

I was drawn to the theme and colors in Amy’s inspiration, creating a similar card using an Impression Obsession Plane with Banner die set.

The Cutting Edge Challenge #12

Challenge12

I cut the Impression Obsession airplane several times to create more dimension. I sponged white pigment ink onto the card panel through the My Favorite Things stencil. I stamped the sentiment from Clearly Besotted onto the airplane banner, curving the stamp as best I could to match the curve of the banner. The banner was cut from vellum and white cardstock. Originally I planned to simply have the vellum banner, but it got lost on the cloud background. After putting the card together it seemed a bit plain (no pun intended!) so I sprinkled on some white and blue sequins.
