Penny Black Season’s Greetings

Today I’m sharing a card created with Penny Black stamps from the just-released Season’s Greetings collection.

Penny Black Season's Greetings

To begin, I stamped and heat-embossed the 40-341 Adorned With Love stamp with gold embossing powder on vellum. I die cut holiday red cardstock, that I stamped and heat embossed with a sentiment from the 30-257 Joy Filled set. To finish, I attached the vellum to the die-cut panel and attached the panel to a white card base.

Stretch Your Stamps 2 Day 7

I’m sharing a CASE of Debby Hughes’ lovely card from today’s Online Card Classes Stretch Your Stamps 2 lesson. Debby used the smallest diamond in the Avery Elle set and “kissed” it to the Hero Arts woodgrain stamp.

The tricky part was finding inks that I owned that would give Debby’s card justice. I don’t own the inks that she used; her blues were more pool/teal than mine. She is also the queen of adding just the right embellishments to her cards. I hesitated adding any at all! I settled on three, whereas Debby had stars, a clear round dot and colored enamel dots. I need to “beef up” my dot stash!

Penny Black Dazzlers

Today, I’m sharing a summery “hello” card pairing Penny Black’s 30-237 Dazzlers and 30-240 Textures.

Penny Black Dazzlers

I stamped the medallions from Dazzlers in a combination of summery colors. I stamped the woven (burlap-like) texture onto the orange card base for a tone-on-tone effect. The sentiment, one of my favorites, is from the 30-230 Sunny Hello stamp set

I can see using this same design in cooler colors (maybe even silver and gold) with a holiday sentiment!

Stretch Your Stamps 2: CASE of Jennifer McGuire’s card

I was away for a week and I’m now catching up with the Online Card Classes Stretch Your Stamps 2 homework. I’m sharing the first card I’ve made from the class, a CASE of one created by Jennifer McGuire.

Stretch Your Stamps 2: CASE

I made a few changes to Jennifer’s amazing design given my supplies. The Hero Arts damask background stamp is intended to be used for a portrait, rather than landscape, card (the pattern isn’t symmetrical in this orientation), but I don’t own the Tim Holtz stamp she used and I wanted to get going on the card. 🙂 I used silver ink whereas Jennifer used a gorgeous combination of Perfect Pearls.

For this card, I followed Jennifer’s instructions to apply VersaMark to the die cut sentiment and heat emboss it will clear powder. Jennifer did the process three times; I stopped after two. I will definitely use that technique in the future as it gives the die cut extra depth and great shine.

The Cutting Edge Challenge #7

It’s time for the another Cutting Edge Challenge! Our inspiration this week is an amazing card created by Design Team member Jackie Rockwell.

The Cutting Edge Challenge #7

I was drawn to the horizontal lines and the conversation bubbles on Jackie’s card. I also incorporated the pink and golden yellow colors in her card on mine, and I created a square card like she did. I used the stitched long rectangle from the Blueprints die set to create the horizontal lines. The sentiments, which I stamped and heat embossed, are from Simon Says Stamp sets.
