CAS-ual Fridays – Banners & Flags

This week’s CAS-ual Fridays challenge is to create a Clean And Simple project that features banners or flags.

I’ve had a multitude of ideas swirling in my head ever since the challenge was announced last night. I’ve even been looking at nautical signal flags to see if I could piece together some on a card!

This card took on its own life and I kept it super-simple. I’m in love with the cottage in the Neat & Tangled “Sweet Home” stamp set. I wanted to create a scene of a summer home, someplace on a beach, late in the summer when it has become chilly enough to light a fire. The family living there is getting ready to head back to the city for the fall, but for one last week, they’ll hold onto summer!

CAS-ual Fridays Take #2

Back with another CAS-ual Fridays Challenge card featuring something you might see in or at the ocean. I moved above the water for this card still using stamps from the Paper Smooches “Surf and Turf” set. I tied a square knot with nylon cord to hold the sentiment stamped on a punch-cut tag for a nautical touch.

Splish Splash

The CAS-ual Fridays Challenge this week is to create a project featuring something you might see in or at the ocean. What a perfect challenge for the month of August. I love almost anything associated with the ocean – the colors, the animal and plant life, the sound of the waves crashing on the beach, … I could probably craft cards with this theme for weeks!

For this card, I paired Paper Smooches adorable “Surf and Turf” stamps with the newly released Avery Elle “Picture It!” stamp set.

Tea-rific

This week, the CAS-ual Fridays challenge was to create a square card.

I stamped the Lawn Fawn “My Cup of Tea” steam stamp on a kraft tag with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with clear powder to create a bit of texture on the card. In order to get the tea bag into the cup, I had to create a mask for both the tea bag and the cup. It took several tries to get the masked image to work out!

CAS-ual Fridays – On Cloud 9

This week the CAS-ual Fridays challenge is to create a Clean And Simple project featuring things you’d see in the sky.

My mind went wild imagining a variety of scenes from many different viewpoints. But alas, given that I needed to craft my image from stamps, there were some limitations! We had amazing weather this past weekend in the Pacific Northwest, and my husband and I took a long walk with our golden retriever on Whidbey Island. I snapped this photo of two evergreens against the clear sky as my inspiration for the challenge.

For my card, I white embossed the tree from the Lawn Fawn Critters in the Forest set a couple of times and colored the trees with distress inks. I white embossed the set’s dragonfly, (there are dozens of dragonflies buzzing around when the sun shines), colored the sky with distress ink, and then used markers to color the dragonfly.
