Shore Do Love You!

Today, I’m sharing a “just because” nautical card!

Shore Do Love You

The buoy is cut with the CottageCutz Life Preserver Die. This is a “new to me” company which has a number of nautical-themed dies. They provide quite a bit of detail (for example, while you can’t see it, the rope is textured). I stamped the background with the My Favorite Things Wood Plank Background (you can never have too many wood-textured backgrounds!) and then cut it with one of the Lawn Fawn dies.  I used a die in the My Favorite Things Die-namics Blueprints 20 set to cut the heat-embossed sentiment (Reverse Confetti Happy Harbor). I’m on the hunt for more nautical sentiment sets (I have many more nautical dies than nautical sentiments).

Supplies: CottageCutz Life Preserver die, Reverse Confetti Happy Harbor stamp set (retired)

Penny Black Simplicity Thank You

Today, I’m sharing two CAS floral Thank You cards created with Penny Black stamps and dies.

Penny Black Simplicity Floral Silhouette

For the first card, I stamped the #40-374 Effulgence flowers in a yellow-green ink onto the white cardstock panel. I stamped the #40-459 Standing Ovation flowers in deep pink ink. I finished the card with a sentiment in the #30-350 Sentiment Collection set and butterflies cut with one of the dies in the #51-132 Flights of Fancy set.

For the second card, I stamped the #40-459 Standing Ovation flowers by coloring the stamp with Distress Ink and Memento markers. I finished the card with a sentiment in the #30-338 Special Thoughts set and two butterflies cut with dies in the #51-198 Flourish & Butterflies set.

It’s easy to change this design by simply changing the colors of the flowers and butterflies. I tried a number of combinations!

#1 Dad – TE Share Joy Challenge #34

I’m playing along with the Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge #34.

Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge #34

I used the sketch to create a masculine card that could be used for Father’s Day, or any other occasion celebrating the Dad in your life (I’m using it for my husband’s upcoming birthday!).

TE Share Joy Challenge #34I went bold with the colors here! I played around with other “masculine” color schemes (for example, tan/navy/green) settling on this one because the orange flame and black BBQ grill cut with the Little Bits – Grill set worked best with the red and yellow. A frame cut with Stitched Frame Stacklets 1 made for a nice finished border.

Let’s Set Sail!

Warmer, sunnier days this past week had me in the mood to make something nautical (one of my favorite card themes). I created a whimsical sailing scene with a miscellany of products from my stash.

Sailing Cat

I’ve professed my love of the Poppystamps Walking Cat die, which I’ve used on quite a few cards. I would have used the same die here, but the Walking Cat didn’t fit on the Paper Smooches Sail Boat (it was too big).

With the Paper Smooches Sail Boat die, I cut the sailboat from a variety of colors and adhered the pieces to a dry-embossed background. I attached the boat part (red) with foam so that the cat could be placed behind the hull. I heat-embossed the sentiment (from a Simon Says Stamp set) onto a panel that I cut with one of the dies in the Poppystamps Marina Sailboat die set.

Have a great weekend!

Supplies: Paper Smooches Sail Boat die, Poppystamps Sitting Cat die, Poppystamps Marina Sailboats die, Simon Says Stamp sentiment

Penny Black Woodland Friends

Today, I’m sharing a CAS spring-themed card combining an image from Penny Black’s #30-278 Woodland Friends stamp set with a die-cut fox, created with #51-193 Woodland Friends II.

Penny Black Simplicity Woodland Creatures

I positioned the Woodland Friends stamp on my MISTI and masked off the fox. I colored the stamped image with watercolor pencils. (On my first try I colored the background blue, but I decided I preferred a more CAS look.) I separately cut the fox with the Woodland Friends II set from cardstock, which I had colored with Distress Inks. I added enamel dots for the nose and eye. I attached the fox to the scene with foam adhesive.

I masked a sentiment from #30-160 Friendship and cut it with one of the word balloons in the #51-003 Chat Bubbles set. To finish off the card, I added a dry-embossed strip along the bottom.
