Spellbinders – Garden Shutters Collection

Hello! Today I am shifting gears from the winter holidays and sharing a friendship card created with the Eyelet Lace Frame set, part of the just-released Garden Shutters Collection by Becca Feeken for Spellbinders. The layers in the set make it effortless to create a distinctive card! The outside scallop is 7 inches wide x 5 inches tall.

With the Eyelet Lace Frame set, cut the detailed layers and the outline layers. I used a color palette of navy, Snowdrift, and Brushed Gold cardstock.
Adhere the outline layers to the backs of the detailed layers.
Assemble layers.
Cut sentiment with the Sweet Sayings Notecard Sentiments from Brushed Gold cardstock. I cut the sentiment twice for extra depth.
Embellish with flowers cut from Snowdrift and Brushed Gold cardstock using the Mini Blooms and Sprigs set.

Penny Black Winter Wishes

Hello! Today, I am sharing a CAS winter-themed card created with Penny Black supplies. Although, I used Christmas colors, the design could be created in non-Christmas colors for a winter friendship card. This design is similar to a card I made at the same time last year. What’s different with this version? Most notably, it’s A2-sized, and I used the 30-881 When Snow Falls sentiment and a die in the 51-717 Border Collection. By using the Border Collection edge, I eliminated the need to frame the card.

I heat-embossed the 30-881 When Snow Falls sentiment in Red Geranium on off-white cardstock and trimmed the panel.
I cut the 51-667 Winter Greens from green cardstock.
I cut the strip from the same green cardstock (to finish off the left-side edge of the 51-667 Winter Greens) using one of the 51-717 Border Collection dies.
I cut the birds from red cardstock with dies in the 51-657 Wildwood set.
I glued the Winter Greens/Border Collection assembly to the sentiment panel and added the birds with foam adhesive.
I added Stickles to the berries.

Spellbinders December 2021 Large Die Kit Club

Hello crafty friends! Happy December! I’m delighted to share two CAS cards created with the Spellbinders December 2021 Large Die of the Month “Layered Stitched Background.”

The versatile set includes six dies with which to create distinctive cards. While I created holiday cards, the set works for any season, simply change the floss colors and sentiment! (Find out more about this set here.)

My cards share the same design: a dry-embossed card base, centered stitched panel, and glimmer-foiled sentiment.

Dry-emboss card base with the Sun Rays folder.
Glimmer-foil Mini Christmas Sentiment Strips sentiment and cut with die in the set.
Die-cut the Large Die of the Month pieces and stitch the bottom layer. Assemble with top pieces and adhere to base.
Add sentiment with foam adhesive.

Tim Holtz Christmas Gentleman

Hello! Today, I am sharing a CAS Christmas card that features a festive gentleman, who looks as if he stepped out of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” The Christmas 2021 Vault Series die includes the gentleman, as well as the wreath and lamp post. (Emboldened supplies without links are available from multiple stores and are included in the supply list at the end of the post.)

To begin I stenciled the snowflakes, part of Mini Stencil Set Number 50, with white pigment ink on to a teal cardstock base. I did this twice to cover the area, letting it dry between the applications.
I die-cut the Christmas 2021 Vault Series from cardstock and assembled them, using Brushed Gold behind the lamppost.
I heat-embossed the Simple Sayings sentiment on white cardstock with gold embossing powder, trimmed the panel, and added it to the stenciled background.
I added the lamp post, gentleman, and wreath to the scene.

Tim Holtz Feathered Friends Christmas Tags

Hello! Today I am sharing Christmas tags created with Tim Holtz supplies featuring the Feathered Friends die set. I shared a card with this set here.

I heat-embossed the Festive Overlay sentiment on to kraft cardstock, once with Red Geranium and once with Green. I cut the cardstock using the Tag Collection die set.
I sponged white pigment ink through the Flurries stencil, masking the sentiment.
To create the small patches of snow, I stenciled embossing paste through a stencil in the Mini Set 38 and then sprinkled it with Rock Candy Glitter.
I die-cut the Feathered Friends birds from colored cardstock and black cardstock and assembled them; I placed white cardstock behind the wings and the bodies for greater visibility. I added the birds to the tags, as well as twine.
