OCC Insider: Day 2

Another fabulous day of inspiration in the Online Card Classes Insider course.

The card shared by Laura Bassen was the starting point for my card. I simplified the design considerably by using a background stamp for the inside.

This card was extremely difficult to photograph for a multitude of reasons, not least of which was the acetate panel. On to the details – I die cut a glitter cardstock panel with an MFT snow slope die. Trust me, that front panel glitters. 🙂 The snow slope was adhered to an acetate panel. I added a  gold metallic cardstock Poppystamps die cut deer for some visual interest on the front.

The inside was stamped with Memento Toffee Crunch on kraft cardstock using the Hero Arts Tree Trunks background stamp. I then stamped a sentiment from Hero Arts’ Winter Wishes set with Versamark and embossed it with WOW gold powder.

I can see using this idea of an acetate panel in lots of ways. I’d like to try this same design again with different colors, such as white trees on a blue background.

Poppystamps: Autumn Thanks

Today I’m sharing a card crafted with some of the new-release Poppystamps products. While a lot of the new collection focuses on the winter holidays, the Viva Tree die caught my eye for a fall-themed card.

Poppystamps: Autumn Thanks

I love the colors of the autumn season! I die cut the tree four times and then selectively cut leaves and adhered them to the tree “base” using Glossy Accents. The background was created by sponging Distress Ink through a circle mask. For the “thank you” sentiment, I masked off part of the “So Much” sentiment stamp to keep it simple!

Supplies:

Penny Black Collage

Today I’m sharing I card crafted with a variety of Penny Black dies and stamps, which I’m calling a “collage.”

Penny Black Collage

The butterflies were stamped with the Letter Background (1999L) and then die cut with Flutters (51-006). The two background tags were first stamped with Indian Wheel (40-202) and die cut with Tagged (51-007). The sentiment was heat embossed using a stamp from the Friendship (30-160) set. Finally, I created a mask cut with the Dots (51-009) die and sponged selected circles with white pigment ink.

I finished off the card with silk ribbon, dyed with Distress Ink to match the cardstock and twine.

Poppystamps: Merry

Today I’m sharing another card as part of the “blog blitz” celebrating the brand-new Poppystamps collection of 74 dies and 20 cling stamps.

Poppystamps: Merry

On my CAS holiday card in traditional colors, I combined the small poinsettia die with the cursive Merry die. For the two smaller flowers, I simply left off the largest, outermost flower – the die cuts the center, three flower layers, and a leaf. I cut the merry die several times in Parchment and once in Squash cardstock, then I adhered the layers together, in order to give more dimension to the sentiment. I use Ranger Glossy Accents – it dries fast and clear.

I’m giving away the cursive Merry die – to enter the giveaway, comment on my post over on the Poppystamps blog. While you’re there, leave a comment (unless you’ve already done so) on the other blog posts that are part of the “blog blitz.” You have until September 20th to leave comments for your chance to win.
