Friendship Butterflies

Hello! I am sharing another card featuring the Fun Stampers Journey Small Things stamps and dies. You can see my a similar card with this set here. I recently reorganized my cardstock by color (previously organized by manufacturer). It makes it so much easier to choose colors this way! This card uses lavenders and purples from a variety of manufacturers (listed below).

Friendship Butterflies

  • I used digital elements from Designer Digitals for the background. I recolored the elements in Photoshop to match the cardstock colors I chose for the butterflies – Bazzill Gummy Bear (large butterfly), Lavender Fusion (small butterfly in the bottom right), and SU Highland Heather (small butterfly in the upper left).
  • The butterflies were stamped with Versafine ink and cut with their coordinating dies. I brushed the butterflies with Wink of Stella to give them subtle shimmer.
  • I stamped the Chosen Family sentiment and cut it with its coordinating die.
  • The background was cut with the largest die in a set of Lil’ Inker square dies and attached to a card base created with Bazzill Sour Grape. The butterflies and sentiment were attached to the card with dot roller adhesive and foam adhesive.

Mixed Media Butterflies

Hello, today I am sharing something a little different than my usual fare – a mixed media card featuring the Fun Stampers Journey Small Things stamps and dies.

Mixed Media Butterflies

  • I stamped the butterflies with Ranger Archival black ink on watercolor paper on to which I had smooshed Distress Inks.
  • I cut the butterflies with their coordinating dies.
  • I stamped the sentiment on to a background which I created on my computer from supplies by Katie Pertiet for Designer Digitals.
  • I added the butterflies with adhesive, popping up a few with foam adhesive.

Creating this card made me think about various stamp sets I own which I could layer to create a similar background. Something to ponder! Thanks for stopping by!

Spellbinders February 2019 Small Die of the Month

Hello! Are you ready for spring? I sure am! Today, I am delighted to share two spring-themed gatefold cards created with the February Small Die of the Month “Spring Flutter” from Spellbinders. Let’s take a look!

Spellbinders February 2019 Small Die of the Month

  • I cut the gatefold panel twice from Whip Cream cardstock. I scored the pieces on the fold line and adhered them to the back of a Sweet Pear cardstock panel, on which I had heat-embossed the sentiment. The Sweet Pear panel was trimmed to 4 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ before I adhered the gatefold panels.
  • I adhered the assembly to a card base and then added the die-cut butterflies and floral pieces, cut from Watermelon Fusion, Orange Creamsicle, and Lavender Fusion cardstock.
  • To finish, I tied twine through the loops to close the gate.

I created the second card in a similar manner to the first simply switching up the colors (this time more subdued) and the orientation (portrait vs. landscape). Additionally, I adhered the Spring Greetings sentiment, cut with the dies included in the set, inside the gatefold panels. I cut the sentiment twice for extra depth.

I have never made a gatefold card before, and I was pleasantly surprised at how easily the cards came together. There are so many variations possible with this set! You can forgo cutting the extra pieces, for example, and just use the panels or you can add even more color using the dies for foliage.

Love You – Die-Cut Valentine

Hello! Today, I am sharing a CAS die-cut Valentine’s Day card featuring the Baby Envelope Die with a sentiment cut from the Miss Your Swirl die set.

Love You - Die-Cut Valentine

I created the background with patterned paper from my stash to which I added a vellum circle in the center. I wanted to quiet the pattern so that the sentiment would be more visible.

I glued the assembled envelope to the circle and then added the letters and the hearts (cut with the Gingerbread Boy die set).

Spellbinders – Latte Love

Hello! Today, I am sharing a Valentine’s Day card featuring the Heart Latte die set from Spellbinders.

Spellbinders - Latte Love

I paired the assembled latte cup (I colored the latte and the spoon with Distress Oxide inks) with a heat-embossed sentiment from the Cup of Tea stamp set, sold separately as well as part of the November Bloom Box. (I shared tea-themed cards created with the Bloom box here.)

To reinforce the Valentine’s Day theme, I placed the sentiment on a heart cut from patterned paper using a die in the Classic Heart Nestabilities set and used heart patterned paper for the base.
