Spellbinders Expressions of Spring

Hello! I was recently a guest post author on the Spellbinders blog showcasing cards created with the Expressions of Spring Collection. There’s nothing quite like a change of seasons, and spring brings a new color palette and images.

I hope you’ll hop over to the post (pun intended) to read about the collection and the cards I created, as well as leave a comment!

Spellbinders January 2021 Clubs Blog Hop

Hello! I am delighted to be participating in a blog hop sharing projects created with the Spellbinders January 2021 Club Subscriptions. You should have reached me from the blog of Jennifer Snyder. (The entire list of participants is included at the end of my post.) For the hop, I created two CAS Valentine’s Day cards using this month’s Large Die of the Month kit “Slimline Kaleidoscope Hearts.” I shared two other cards created with the kit in this post.

My first card is a slimline Valentine’s Day card with an ombré inlaid background.

  • I cut the Large Die of the Month frame from Whip Cream cardstock and backed it with Pool Play cardstock.
  • I used the frame die to cut the smaller hearts from pink and three shades of red and inlaid them into the frame.
  • I cut two kaleidoscope hearts from white cardstock and two shades of red, backing the assembly with a solid heart cut from dark red.
  • I glimmer-foiled the Heart Melt sentiment in silver on red cardstock and cut it with the Forever Love Hearts set.
  • I adhered the sentiment heart and kaleidoscope hearts to the frame.

To showcase the versatility of the die set, I created a 4 1/4″ square card in which the background is created in the same manner as above.

  • I die-cut the frame from white, linen-textured cardstock by cutting a 3 1/4″ square from the center of a 4 1/4″ square.
  • I created the background in the manner as described for my first card.
  • I cut the ring and sentiment from white, gold, and glitter cardstock using the Special Celebrations die set. (This post shares other ways to use the Special Celebrations set.)

Spellbinders Expressions of Love Collection

Hello! Today I have two love-themed cards using products from the Spellbinders Expressions of Love Collection. On both, I have combined die-cutting and glimmer-foiling.

Spellbinders Expressions of Love Collection

My first card showcases the Sunday Sunset Drive die set – an add-on set for the Sunday Drive set – on a wedding congratulations card.

  • I die-cut the pieces for the car, the groom, the bride, the flowers, and the license plate from solid cardstock and silver foil and assembled them. (There are many options for the Sunday Sunset Drive set; I chose to create a wedding card.)
  • I glimmer-foiled the Wedding Wishes sentiment in silver on Whip Cream cardstock in silver and cut it with a die in the Holiday Sentiments set.
  • I added the sentiment and car to a patterned paper background to which I added die-cut hearts (cut with a die in the Sunday Sunset Drive set).

The second card uses the strip technique to create a quilt-like background for a heartfelt sentiment.

  • I glimmer-foiled the Scattered Hearts background in gold on light blue, pink, and two shades of red cardstock. I cut the pieces with a rectangular die and pieced them together to form a 3 3/4″ x 5″ rectangle. I added the rectangle to a linen-textured white background.
  • I glimmer-foiled the Heart Melt sentiment on Whip Cream cardstock and cut it with the outline die in the Forever Love Hearts set. I added it to the card with foam adhesive.

Spellbinders Delicate Impressions Collection by Becca Feeken

Hello! Today I am sharing two cards created with Glimmer Foil Plates from the recently-released Delicate Impressions Collection by Becca Feeken: the Sweet Blooms Border and the Heart Melt Sentiments.

On the first card, I used the Sweet Blooms Border in its entirety on the left-hand side of the card balanced with the sentiment on an oval.

On the second card, I used portions of the Sweet Blooms Border on a color-block card.

  • I glimmer foiled the sentiment from the Heart Melt Sentiments set in Gold on Whip Cream cardstock and cut it with its coordinating die.
  • I glimmer foiled the Sweet Blooms Border in Gold on four different colored cardstock pieces.
  • I cut the foiled pieces with the 2 ” square die.
  • I taped the squares together on the back and added the assembly to a textured cardstock 4 1/4″ square.
  • I added that assembly to a 4 1/2″ Brush Gold card base.
  • I added the sentiment in the center with foam adhesive.

Spellbinders December Clubs Blog Hop

Hello! I am delighted to be participating in a blog hop sharing projects created with the Spellbinders December 2020 Club Subscriptions. You should have reached me from the blog of Jennifer Snyder. (The entire list of participants is included at the end of my post.) For the hop, I created two CAS holiday cards using this month’s Small Die of the Month kit (“Daydreaming”) and Large Die of the Month kit (“Look Behind the Curtain”).

I previously shared projects using these dies here and here.

To celebrate this release, Spellbinders is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 3 lucky blog readers – selected from the comments on the Spellbinders blog. Giveaway closes on Sunday, December 13th, 11:59 pm MST. The winner will be announced in this blog hop post the following Tuesday. The winner is responsible for shipping cost, duties and taxes. Please note: store credit (gift certificate) cannot be applied to Club Subscriptions; store credit can be applied to shop past Club products, Club extras, and regular releases.

I used the same approach on both cards: patterned paper as the scene through the window, the Small Die of the Month window oriented horizontally on a card base glimmer foiled with a Holiday Series 2 sentiment, and a curtain created with the Large Die of the Month curtain panel (cut in two) .

The Large Die of the Month set includes dies to create a moving curtain panel. Figuring that a lot of people might be short on time during the holidays, I wanted to show how to create cards without an operable curtain. With the Large Die of the Month set, I cut one curtain panel and cut it into two pieces. I framed the window scene with the panels and the curtain valance. Quick and simple!

On the second scene, I added a cat cut with a die in the Small Die of the Month set along with packages cut with dies in the Home for the Holidays set.
