Penny Black In a Row – One More Card

I couldn’t resist crafting a Halloween-themed card with the new Penny Black In a Row die cut (51-001).

Penny Black In a Row - One More Card

I used the same card design as the one I shared in yesterday’s post, stamping the sentiment from the Penny Black Hoot of a Time (40-152) stamp set on a slightly larger die-cut circle. The purple panel has been stamped with the Penny Black Indian Wheel (40-202) background stamp in dye ink.

Bats in the Belfry

For reasons unbeknownst to me, the phrase “Bats in the belfry” popped into my head the other day while I was walking Ginger.  I decided it would be fun to see if I could create a card with the phrase.

According to The Phrasefinder, “‘Bats in the belfry’ refers to someone who acts as though he has bats careering around his topmost part, i.e. his head.”

Paper Smooches “FOLKal Points” has a cute looking church/school/tower building that I used for the belfry. I added bats from both “Halloweenies” and “Spookalicious.”

CAS-ual Fridays #71

This week’s CAS-ual Fridays challenge was to create a Clean And Simple project inspired by autumn. I was able to make two entries; I had many more ideas swimming in my head that I just didn’t have time to implement!

My first card, and the one best-fitting the theme, came together quickly.

For my second card, I made a Halloween card combining several Paper Smooches sets.

Supplies: Paper Smooches Halloweenies; Paper Smooches Spookalicious; Echo Park Chillingsworth Manor patterned paper; Bo Bunny patterned paper; Stampin’ Up + Neenah cardstock; Versafine ink; Ranger clear embossing powder

I’m beginning to realize how much I’ve used the Echo Park Chillingsworth Manor paper this fall – some Halloween, some not. It’s a great collection!

Lawnscaping Challenge #41

The Lawnscaping Challenge this week is to create a card using the sketch below.

For my first card, I moved the cluster to the bottom-right corner of the card. I was in a mood to create something fall-themed, so I paired Simple Stories Harvest Lane papers with the newly-released Lawn Fawn “So Thankful” stamp set and an old favorite, “Critters in the Forest.” All of the images are embossed with Stampin’ Up espresso powder. I cut the sentiment in to two pieces so that I could stack it.

Supplies: Simple Stories Harvest Lane papers, Stampin’ Up cardstock, Stampin’ Up embossing powder, Fiskars scallop border punch

For my second card, I used the newly-released Lawn Fawn “Hoppy Halloween” with Echo Park’s “Chillingsworth Manor” papers. I wanted a little extra “zing” so I used Stickles on the circle, the moon, and the medallion of the vampire bunny.

Retro Sketches #25

With early fall in the air (and a few fallen leaves already on the ground), I was in the mood to play with the Neat & Tangled Halloween Scene stamp set for this week’s Retrosketches challenge.

I’ve had the My Mind’s Eye Halloween paper for at least a year, and I believe it was actually introduced two years ago. I like the neighborhood depicted with the costumed trick-or-treaters. I paired the paper with a stamped haunted house onto which I paper-pieced a door and windows. I also curved my sentiment, which I’ve never done before. It was much easier to do than I ever imagined!
