SCC2: Week Three, Day Five

There were some fabulous cards shared in the final class of  the Online Card Classes Summer Card Camp 2. I CASEd Amy Kolling’s lovely card.

SCC2: Week Three, Day Five

I stamped one of the stamps from the Penny Black Floral Applique set four times and embossed with white embossing powder. I colored the leaves with Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint Distress Inks and the floral image with Spun Sugar Distress Ink. The sentiment is stamped with Versafine from the Hero Arts Truly Appreciated set. Amy had another mat (behind the kraft mat) and used a die by Lil’ Inkers that gave a nice border to the mat stack. I added a few pearls and some May Arts twine to finish the card off, all the while I was thinking “I really need that Lil’ Inkers product”! The pink card base is Memory Box cardstock.

The past three weeks have been a whirlwind of cardmaking – I’m really going to miss this class! The instructors, guest artists and classmates have provided wonderful inspiration and made it a lot of fun. It’s been nice meeting new people and reconnecting with those of you I already know from previous classes.

Have a fabulous weekend!

SCC2: Week Three, Day Four

Today’s class in the Online Card Classes Summer Card Camp 2 was all about trying something new. I CASEd the lovely shabby chic creation by guest artist Debby Hughes. Shabby chic is definitely not a style in which I normally craft my cards!

SCC2: Week Three, Day Five

I even broke out my sewing machine to add the stitching, as without it, the cut patterned paper just didn’t look right for this style. I distressed the panel and card base with Antique Linen Distress Ink and the tag with Frayed Burlap. It’s subtle, but the effect does make a difference. To be honest, I ended up enjoying this process much more than I thought I would! The card is still not full-on Shabby Chic, but it’s definitely done in a style different than my usual.

SSC2: Week Three, Day Three

There were some fabulous creations shared by the the guest artists in today’s Online Card Classes Summer Card Camp 2 class. I chose to CASE Shari Carroll’s beautiful card.

SSC2: Week Three, Day Three

I was intrigued by Shari’s use of the geometric shapes with the butterfly, which shows up better in real life. In this photo, it gets a bit lost with the white background. I eliminated a bow Shari had below the sentiment because I ran out of room at the bottom. I suspect that the entire circle was higher up on her card, but I wasn’t going to move it as it was adhered with dimensional tape! And ideally I’d have smaller sequins, or sequins in a couple of different sizes, but alas I don’t!

Supplies: A Muse Studio sequins; Spellbinders circle die; Penny Black Pointile stamp; ColorBox white pigment ink; Penny Black Penny Black Tagged die cut (small hexagon); Stampin’ Up cardstock (dark brown); twine

SCC2: Week Two, Day Five

I’m absolutely blown away by the material and inspiration from the Online Card Classes Summer Card Camp 2. It’s been quite a week! Today, I’m sharing my CASE of a card crafted by Jessica Witty.

SCC2: Week Two, Day Five

Jessica used a combination of stamps on her card, which had two vellum overlays. There were three stamped images – one on white, two on vellum. I tried a variety of stamps but just didn’t have three that would work together in the same way. The Penny Black Longing set was the one that I ultimately chose as it had two pieces that leaned into one another. That vellum overlay is “hanging on” with some glue behind the gems I added to the flower centers and a thin line of adhesive at the top.

They say that you learn the most when you make mistakes. I’ve made a lot of mistakes this week so I’m pretty certain I’m learning! Now to clean my workspace (aka the kitchen table) as it’s covered with my crafting items from this week! Have a fabulous weekend.

SCC2: Week Two, Day Four

Today I’m sharing my CASE of Stephanie Klauck’s card from the Online Card Classes Summer Card Camp 2.

SCC2: Week Two, Day Four

I made some changes in terms of product to the ones that Stephanie used. The lesson was focused on using Christmas supplies for non-Christmas cards. I didn’t own some of the specific items, so used products that I do own. Stephanie’s card was more elaborate than mine!

I had a calamity of errors (or is it comedy?), but tried to shake them off as I went along. I have really struggled with the two shades of green in this week’s color scheme for unknown reasons, since I like the color green. I colored the wood veneer bird several ways, including with acrylic paint. I had the painted bird adhered to my card, ready to photograph, and then decided I liked the bird stained with Distress Ink and coated with Glossy Accents better!
