Background Check Day Six

The Day Six Online Card Classes Background Check lesson focused on card designs using backgrounds shown on Days Four and Five. I created a card using the Gap Background technique shown by Kristina Werner along with other “texture techniques.”

Using an embossing folder by Sizzix for Stampin’ Up, I dry embossed two ends of a card panel leaving a gap in between. Within the gap, I added the Avery Elle die cut sentiment (cut from foil and adhered to white cardstock) using dimensional adhesive. I wasn’t planning on making a holiday card, (and Kristina used completely different supplies for her sentiment), but the Season’s Greetings worked well for this technique.

Supplies:

Penny Black Leap of Joy

A little sparkle and shine today with the Penny Black 51-062 Leap of Joy die cut taking center stage (again!). The deer is cut from a brushed gold cardstock. This has certainly been the “year of the deer”!

To the patterned paper card panel, I added snowflakes cut with the 51-066 Crystal Trio set (cut from gold and white glitter cardstock).  I cut the Merry sentiment from the 51-021 Love & Joy set and attached it to a banner cut with the 51-027 Triple Banner set.

Comfort & Joy – Holiday Donuts!

Today, I’m sharing a “just because” holiday card playing on the Reverse Confetti sentiment -“Tidings of comfort & joy.”

Comfort & Joy - Holiday Donuts!

I cut the donut bases with the large and small circles in the Donut You Know Confetti Cut set. Then I cut the icing tops with the icing die and small circle in holiday colors. I added heart sprinkles in red, green and white.

May your holiday week be filled with comfort and joy!

Curtain Call – Candy Cane

I’m playing along with the Curtain Call Candy Cane Challenge.

With the Christmas holiday just around the corner, I’m finding myself creating quick cards using my on-hand supplies.

I die cut white cardstock with the Lifestyle Crafts Antlers die allowing room below for a heat embossed Stampin’ Up sentiment. After adding the sentiment, I adhered the panel, cut with a rectangle die, over Candy Cane striped patterned paper. I then added the panel to a red cardstock base.

I also put together another quick card using a positive Antlers die cut. I cut some patterned paper for the background and added a square frame, cut with the largest die in the MFT Die-namics Square Frames set.

Off to do some last minute holiday shopping!

Reverse Confetti – Holiday Scrapbook Layout

Today, I’m sharing a layout for which I created my own embellishments with Reverse Confetti stamps and Confetti Cuts.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, our family took a quick excursion to Victoria, BC. We’d traveled there twelve years ago at Thanksgiving time and had been wanting to return for quite a while. My husband and son were good sports and let me snap some photos for an 8 1/2″ x 11″ layout.

I used a sketch from Pagemaps for my layout.

I cut the white snowflakes with the Let It Snow Confetti Cuts and added them to patterned paper circles. I cut the evergreen and limbs with the Branch Out Confetti Cuts, also adding those to a patterned paper circle. I cut the Circle Garland three times, out of red patterned paper for some color. I cut the sentiment flag with the Tag Me banner and heat embossed it with one of the Seasonal Sentiments.

By using a coordinated set of patterned paper (Pebbles “Home for Christmas” collection) with the Reverse Confetti products, this layout came together quite quickly!
