Stenciled: Butterflies

I’m still playing with stencils (and color!). The idea for this card comes from one of Julie Ebersole’s shown in the Online Card Classes Stenciled Class.

ButterflyStencilI dry-embossed the linen cardstock with the Heidi Swapp stencil before coloring it with the Distress Inks (leaving the stencil in place while applying the inks). The stencil includes an additional butterfly, which I cut off for a traditionally-sized card. I didn’t need to move the stencil at all for the design of the butterflies, which I liked, as I struggle to do something “artsy” when positioning items on my cards. 🙂

Love You More

I’m heading right into the Valentine’s Day “season” today with a CAS card using the Mama Elephant “Party Kit” stamps and coordinating die cuts.

Love You More

I stamped the heart balloon in three shades of Mama Elephant pigment-based inks, which I then die cut. (I like the dimension achieved with the die cuts and it’s a lot less stressful to create a card this way!) I paired the balloons with one of my favorite Hero Arts sentiments from the “Oh Snap” set.

Pinspired Challenge #16

For my card, I was inspired by the floral motif and the colors in the image. I used Mama Elephant’s Water Blooms stamp set and a variety of inks on my single-layer card.

Hello, Friend

I purchased the Mama Elephant Tree Friends stamp weeks ago and have just now gotten a chance to play with it.

Hello, Friend

I was inspired by the way that Mariana Grigsby used this set on her card, and set out to replicate it. However, I struggled with adding the Distress Ink with embossing brushes (it might be because I don’t own the same brushes she used). After admitting failure (and restamping the tree!), I decided to watercolor the tree image with Distress Inks using a water brush. Rather than use water, I used the Ink Potion No. 9, which seems to help with warping. I added a few glossy accents like Mariana did. I like the effect and it definitely adds some texture and shine. I’ll have to remember to use them in the future on similar projects.

I’d like to revisit this stamp set with a different set of colors for the flowers. Maybe something in an autumnal color palette. 🙂
