OCC Holiday Card Workshop 2013 Day One

Starting off this week with the Online Card Classes Holiday Workshop. What a treat for a Monday.

Today’s lesson shared ideas for decorating the insides of cards that coordinated with the outsides. I based my card on the one shared by Kristina Werner, however, I haven’t added the vellum gift card pocket to my card. The idea is that the washi tape on the outside is used to adhere the pocket on the inside.

I really liked the stamp she used on her card, a cute penguin from Darcie’s. Since I don’t have that stamp, I used a Paper Smooches snowman from Swanky Swanky Snowdudes instead. The sentiment is from the Papersmooches Warm Hearts set. There’s some Wink of Stella on the olive green scarf and some Stickles on the hat and buttons.

There’s so much material in today’s lesson – off to watch more videos. Hope you’re having a fantastic start to your week!

SCC2: Week One, Day Five

What a week – I’m blown away by the material that’s being presented, as well as talent of teachers, guest artists and fellow classmates in the Online Card Classes Summer Card Camp 2 class!

My card for today’s homework is based on the one shared by Jennifer McGuire.

SCC2: Week One, Day Five

This wasn’t a “one take” card! I made some stamp and color adjustments after my first go. I didn’t have the sentiment stamps that Jennifer used, so I cut apart of the ones in the Truly Appreciated set from Hero Arts. Also Jennifer had machine stitched her vellum overlay on the left hand side. I used a white gel pen to draw fake stitching.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Summer Card Camp 2: Week One

There were three fabulous sketches and a color scheme provided in today’s lesson for the Online Card Classes Summer Card Camp 2 class.

Summer Card Camp 2: Week One

My card is based on the one shared by Jennifer McGuire. I chose a couple different supplies than the ones that Jennifer used, but otherwise my card is very similar. I put Creative Tape onto the back of white cardstock before I cut layers of the sentiment to give the sentiment some depth on the card. I added Creative Tape to the blue cardstock as well. I’ve found that using Creative Tape makes it easy to adhere those delicate die cuts to one another and to the card base.

Supplies: Mama Elephant Water Blooms; Hero Arts Out of Print background stamp; VersaMagic, Stampin’ Up and Memento Luxe inks; Paper Smooches die; Hero Arts gems; Memory Box cardstock

Single Layer Card

The single layer card represents my greatest card making challenge. At the same time, I think it’s one of the most stunning cardmaking techniques, when done right.

I’ve been inspired by Kristina Werner’s One Layer Card Mini Series and decided to combine some floral stamps in bright colors with a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Flower Friend set.

Single Layer Card

I chose a color combination from the Online Card Classes Summer Card Camp 1 (otherwise I would never have considered this combination.) I’ve referred to the cards and color combos from that class time and again! Summer Card Camp 2 is just around the corner – it runs July 8-29. I can’t wait!

You’re Swell

I wanted to continue playing with Paper Smooches stamps and came across a card by Kristina Werner from Online Card Classes Pattern Play that I thought would work well with one of my favorite sets – Surf and Turf.

I do not own the Simon Says Stamp die that Kristina used on her card, so I cut the three circles individually with a Spellbinder die.

I just couldn’t resist adding a couple of Googly Eyes. All of the papers are from the Echo Park A Perfect Summer pad.

Have a fabulous weekend!
