Spellbinders Inlaid Die-cut Card

Hello! Today I am sharing a CAS card that uses the diecutting inlaid technique and features Spellbinders supplies.

Spellbinders Inlaid Die-cut Card

  • To begin, I cut the Waves overlay from white cardstock.
  • I backed the overlay with dark blue cardstock which created a frame for the other pieces of carstock.
  • I cut light blue cardstock with the Waves die and placed those pieces into the frame.
  • I cut medium blue cardstock with the Waves die an placed those pieces into the frame.
  • I foiled the sentiment in silver and adhered the strip to the assembled wave panel. I adhered the panel to a dark blue card base.

Although inlay technique takes time, it’s a bit like working a jigsaw, which can be rewarding and therapeutic.

Spellbinders June Club Kits – Another Look

Hello!  Today I am sharing two friendship cards created with the June Small Die of the Month and Large Die of the Month sets from Spellbinders. I previously shared a card featuring the Small Die of the Month here and a card featuring the Large Die of the Month here.

On the first card I used dies from both of the sets on the floral frame. I attached the assembled flowers and foliage to the frame, which is included in the Large Die set. The frame surrounds a large stamped sentiment (from a now-retired set from Simon Says Stamp).

On the second card I used dies from the Small Die of the Month exclusively, using two of the three flower shapes in the set. Once the assembled flowers were on the panel, excess stems, foliage, and bloom were trimmed from the side and the bottom. (The large sentiment is from the same now-retired set from Simon Says Stamp.)

Spellbinders – Elegant Twist Collection

Hello! Today, I am sharing two cards created with Spellbinders products from the recently-released Elegant Twist Collection by Becca Feeken.

Spellbinders Elegant Twist Collection

My first card features the Elegant Twist Oval die set.

Spellbinders Elegant Twist Collection

The Elegant Twist Oval die set includes twist oval and outline oval dies, which can be used in many different combinations when nested. This Spellbinders video provides greater detail about the set.

  • I cut a rectangular (3 3/4″ x 5″) panel using a twist die with a plain oval nested inside. In that manner, the outside was not cut, only the inside.
  • I then used the same plain oval die to cut a rectangular panel from light-blue cardstock.
  • I added the light-blue panel behind the darker blue panel.
  • I stamped the sentiment on to white cardstock, and centered it behind the frame assembly.
  • I added that assembly to the card base and embellished with flowers cut with a die in the Floral Tiara Topper die set. The vellum sprigs were cut with a die in the June Large Die of the Month kit, as were the flower centers.

Spellbinders Elegant Twist Collection

My second card showcases the Splendid Trilliant die set paired with a sentiment included in the Borders and Sentiments glimmer plate set. I grounded the assembly with an oval from the Oval Coronet die set. (You can see another card created with that set here.)

Spellbinders Elegant Twist Collection

  • I cut the Splendid Trilliant overlay from white cardstock using the detailed die and outline die in the set.
  • I cut the dark blue piece using just the outline die.
  • I foil-embossed the sentiment on to the dark blue piece. I then adhered the pieces together.
  • Similarly, I cut the overlay using the detailed die and outline die in the Oval Coronet set. I cut a solid panel with just the outline die and adhered those together.
  • I the Splendid Trilliant and Oval Coronet pieces together, adhered the assembly to the card base, and added flowers cut with a die in the Floral Tiara Topper die set.

Spellbinders Large Die June 2020 – Geometrical Floral Frames

Hello!  Today I am sharing a CAS friendship card created with the June Large Die of the Month kit from Spellbinders – “Geometrical Floral Frames.” (Edited: This die set is no longer available.)

Spellbinders Large Die June 2020 - Geometrical Floral Frames

On my card, I used one of the frames in the set along with the flowers and foliage.

  • I heat-embossed the sentiment on deep blue cardstock.
  • I cut the frame from gold foil.
  • I cut the greenery from SU Cucumber Crush (now retired) and vellum. I cut the flowers from yellow, red, and white, and their centers from gold foil.
  • I glued the foliage and flowers to the frame. I used flowers to cover the junction points for the foliage.
  • I glued the frame to the card base.
  • I added flat sequins in several sizes to the card to fill in the “white space.”
