Spellbinders/FSJ Hello Summer

Hello! Today I’m delighted to be sharing three cards over on the Spellbinders blog featuring new summer-themed products, part of the Hello Summer – Splash Zone Collection. I’m a big fan of anything ocean-themed and fascinated the different takes on that theme in papercrafting – nautical, tropical, and everything in-between.

The details on how I created the cards can be found in this post. I hope you’ll head on over to learn more and leave a comment. Below, I’ve shared photos of the projects and the supply list.

Penny Black – CAS Thank You

Hello! Today, I am sharing a quick-and-easy CAS card featuring Penny Black supplies. I tried a number of different color combinations before settling on this one. I’m a big fan of combining bold colors with black and white.

Penny Black - CAS Thank You

  • I cut the 51-235 Swirled Squares from black cardstock and adhered them to cardstock squares cut from Stampin’ Up Melon Mambo, Bazzill Circus Peanuts, and SU Bermuda Bay. I used spray adhesive to adhere the square frames.
  • I added the squares to a card base measuring 6″ x 3 1/2″ on which I had stamped a sentiment from the 30-281 Flower Sparks set.
  • I cut the butterflies with a die in the 51-132 Flights of Fancy set and added  them to the card with foam adhesive.

Fourth of July – Die-cut MFT Birdhouse

Hello! Today I am sharing a card showcasing the Birds of a Feather and Birdhouse die sets from My Favorite Things. This design is the same as the card I shared here. I changed out the colors and created a sentiment on my computer to make a Fourth of July card. I love red, white, and blue, patterned paper, and die-cutting – this card covers all three!

Fourth of July - Die-cut MFT Birdhouse

  • I die-cut the birds, birdhouse, and floral pieces from Neenah Solar White,  SU Daffodil Delight, SU Garden Green, SU Real Red, FSJ Black Licorice, and patterned paper in my stash.
  • I assembled the pieces with Tonic Nuvo glue and added them to a panel cut from SU So Saffron (on which I had printed the computer-generated sentiment) with a now-retired MFT Blueprints set.
  • Although the Birdhouse set includes a post, I wanted my sentiment to go below the birdhouse, so I added a string of cardstock cut with the IO Vintage Ornament die to hang the birdhouse from the top of the card.

Spellbinders/FSJ Summer Die-cut Scene

Hello! Today I am sharing a die-cut summer scene in which I have combined a number of Spellbinders/Fun Stampers Journey die sets. Knowing what you know about me – I love summer colors like red, white, and blue, and I love to die cut! I was inspired by my recent move to create a “Home Sweet Home” card.

I rotated the window in the Window View die set and added the ledge piece below as a window box. In the background I dry-embossed the Banana Cream cardstock with the Bright Days embossing folder. In the foreground I added a fence cut with the Garden Fence die. To accommodate the window and the fence, I made the card 4 1/2″ tall by 5 1/2″ wide.

I used the A Little Birdie set to cut the small flowers and the green stems. I added a bigger spray of green with the Bloom Cluster die. The larger flower was cut with the Daisy die set. The butterfly is included in the Spring Flutter set.

I printed the computer-generated sentiment on Pineapple Smoothie cardstock.

It’s Strawberry Season! – Die-cut Berry Truck

Hello! I’m back online with a “just because” card.  I’m still getting things rearranged in my new workspace. It’s strawberry season and the ones we’re getting in the PNW are fantastic. I crafted this Pacific Northwest scene with Impression Obsession dies, a My Favorite Things stencil, Memory Box dies, and a Hero Arts sentiment.

As I created this card, I was using a Valentine’s Day card that my brother and I sent my grandmother sometime in the 1960s as a straight edge and a Cross pencil of my father’s to draw lines for trimming. That’s a good indication of how much crazy is in my life – that I could lay my hands on those tools faster than a ruler and pencil from this century!

The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Stamp Your Own Fruit set (now retired). The clouds are from two different sets – Memory Box Puffy Clouds and Marshmallow Clouds.
