Floral Hello – Die-cut Inlaid Technique

Hello! Today I am sharing a floral hello card featuring Spellbinders die sets with which I have used the inlaid die-cutting technique. It’s one of my favorite techniques.

  • I cut white cardstock and cardstock colored with Distress Oxide inks with the Lovely Lilac and Petal’d Poetry die sets designed by Stephanie Low.
  • I inlaid the colored die-cut pieces into the white cardstock die-cut “frame.”
  • I taped the pieces into the frame from the back and adhered the assembled die-cut on top of the solid die-cut piece.
  • I heat-embossed the Altenew Mini Hello sentiment on to Gina K cardstock and added the assembled blooms to the card base. I was going for a tropical feel when choosing the card base color.

I’m delighted you dropped by!

Stitched Florals – Die-cut Thanks

Hello! Today, I am sharing a thank you card featuring the My Favorite Things Stitched Blooms die set. This set is not new but it is new to my collection.

Stitched Florals - Die-cut Thanks

  • I applied Distress Oxide inks on to white cardstock and cut the flowers and leaves from that cardstock.
  • I assembled the die-cut pieces with liquid adhesive.
  • I placed the pieces on a kraft cardstock base on which I had stamped the Thanks sentiment. Some of the pieces were adhered directly to the base and some with foam adhesive.

Simon Says Stamp CAS Summer Card

Hello! Today, I am sharing a CAS summer-themed card featuring Simon Says Stamp supplies. Why summer you ask? I just received the bike die and that made me think of warm and sunny days.

Spellbinders Cut and Emboss Folders Blog Hop

Hello crafty friends! I am delighted to be participating in a blog hop celebrating the recently released Cut & Emboss Folders from Spellbinders. You should have reached my blog from the Spellbinders blog.

Spellbinders Cut and Emboss Folders Blog Hop

To celebrate this release, Spellbinders is giving away a $50 gift certificate to a lucky blog reader – selected from the comments across all of the blogs in the hop. Giveaway closes on Sunday, April 14th 11:59 pm EDT. Winners will be announced in our blog hop post the following Monday. The winner is responsible for shipping cost, duties, and taxes.

Let’s take a look at what I created with two of the folders in the collection.

Spellbinders Cut and Emboss Folders Blog Hop

My first project features the Floral Splash folder. To create the background, I began by applying Distress Oxide inks to white cardstock. I worked from the center of the panel outwards.

Spellbinders Cut and Emboss Folders Blog HopI trimmed the panel to 5″ x 7″ and then cut and embossed it with the Floral Splash folder.

I brushed dark red ink across the embossed front to accentuate the pattern, and I glued cardstock, which I had colored with yellow ink, behind the panel for the floral centers.

I added a sentiment strip on which I arranged flowers and foliage cut with the Daisy 2 dies from inked cardstock .

My second card features the Reflections folder.

The A2-sized card front panel was cut and embossed from white cardstock. I wanted to highlight the strong relief achieved with the folder, as well as show the beauty of a simple white background.

I stamped a sentiment in the center of the panel and added flowers and foliage cut with dies in the Daisy and Daisy 2 die sets. Just as with the first card, I adhered cardstock, colored with ink, behind the panel for the floral centers.

Oh My! – Spellbinders D-Lites Bear and Lion

Hello! Today, I am sharing two cards created with recently released Spellbinders D-Lites die sets. My cards feature the Bear and Lion. These are just two of several new die sets at Spellbinders.

Oh, My! - Spellbinders D-Lites Bear and Lion

For both, I die-cut the animals and assembled them according to the downloadable instructions on their product descriptions. I also dry-embossed backgrounds for both cards using the Beach Towel embossing folder.

I added a heart balloon to the bear card, which I cut with dies included in the First Crush set (January 2019 Small Die of the Month now available to purchase separately).

I used an oval die to cut a background for the lion. For the sentiment piece, I stamped the sentiment on cardstock, cut the stamped piece with an oval die, and then used a circle die to cut it again.
