Holiday Cheer!

This is a “just because” card. I’ve been wanting to give the Paper Smooches “Hot Concoctions” stamp set a try for awhile.

Paper Smooches Holiday Cheer

Given the holiday season, I thought a peppermint stick would be a fun addition. Initially I had the top of the cup, what would be the beverage, stamped on kraft cardstock. But the kraft just wasn’t working with the other colors. The bright turquoise and red of the My Mind’s Eye “Winter Wonderland” papers make me happy!

Supplies: Neat and Tangled Home Sweet Home (candy cane); Spellbinders die

Hero Arts 2013 Debut

As soon as I saw the new Hero Arts stamps, I knew exactly the card I wanted to make first! I revisited the tag I’d made for the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Challenge based on Jennifer McGuire’s tag. At some point I plan to stamp the bird onto watercolor paper and color with paint. For this card, I simply stamped the image with Versafine ink on kraft cardstock and heat embossed it.

I combined the poinsettia die’s center section as a flower with the branch die.

Supplies: Stampin’ Up cardstock; Fiskars border punch

Day 11 of the 12 Tags of Christmas

Today I’m sharing my take on the Day 11 Tag by Carolyn Peeler for the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Challenge. I drew inspiration from Carolyn’s soft color palette and glitter border.

Day 11 of the 12 Tags of Christmas

For my first attempt with the tag, I created a gold tinsel glitter, but I decided that silver would look better with the light pink and blue that I had used to color the stamped skater. Unfortunately, I don’t have any dry silver glitter. I drew a border with a Versamark pen (although I think I’ve been storing it wrong, as it seemed to be dry) and heat embossed some American Crafts Zing silver glitter embossing powder. I then added a line of Ranger Silver Stickles to fill in some empty spots. I’ve added silver tinsel glitter to my wishlist! The sentiment was created on my computer.

Copics: R11 (coat); B21 (mittens); B0000 (white sections on hat and mittens); N1, N3 (skates); E00 (skin)

Supplies: Recollections ribbon (Michaels)

Day 10 of the 12 Tags of Christmas

Today I’m sharing my take on the Day 10 Tag by Maile Belles for the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Challenge. This tag was a fun one with which to try different ink combinations.

I simplified the background by stamping with the Hero Arts “Snow Dots” background stamp. For my first take, I kept my trees and sentiment very much like Maile’s, but then I glued it together with a glue that warped the paper. 🙁  For my second take, I decided to make the trees and sentiment more symmetrical. I added some glitter paper above and below the tree section. And I topped the tree off with a star from the Lawn Fawn set.

I’ve had so much fun with these tags, I really don’t want the inspiration to end!

Supplies: glitter paper (Target); ColorBox white pigment ink; Recollections ribbon (Michaels)

Day Six of the 12 Tags of Christmas

I’m back sharing another tag for the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Challenge at Ellen Hutson‘s. This one was inspired by the Day Six tag by Teri Anderson. I had some fits and starts with this – I had the tag assembled and then after photographing it, I took it apart and made some adjustments. Rather than make twine trees, like Teri did, I used two different Paper Smooches stamps on patterned paper. I added a few pearls to the trees as well. I used the “Warm Wishes” sentiment from the Studio Calico/Hero Arts “Spread Joy” set. This has been one of my favorite sentiment stamps this season.
