Best Mate – Stamp Nation Sketch Challenge

There’s a new sketch challenge over at Stamp Nation and I’m playing along with another nautical card.

Best Mate - Stamp Nation Sketch Challenge

Once I chose my sentiment, from Stampin’ Up’s Hello, Sailor set, the rest of the card was easy to pull together. The paper banners were cut from Carta Bella’s Ahoy patterned paper with MFT Fishtail Flag dies. The anchor was cut with a WPlus9 Design die from brushed silver cardstock. I stamped the MFT woodplank stamp with Hero Arts Soft Brown Shadow Ink on Stampin’ Up Crumb Cake cardstock. This is definitely a sketch I’ll revisit!

The Cutting Edge Challenge #1

It’s time for the first Cutting Edge Challenge! Our inspiration this week is an amazing card created by Jackie Rockwell.

Here’s my take on the inspiration card:

The Cutting Edge Challenge #1

I was drawn to the “star” aspect of Jackie’s card, reflected by the design and the sentiment. I cut several colors of cardstock with the Poppystamps Superstar border die. The turquoise and orange stars are inlaid in the navy stars. The “awesome” was cut three times and glued together so that it would have some depth. While my colors aren’t the same as Jackie’s, I used colors with energy and punch.

Supplies: Poppystamps Superstar Border, Technique Tuesday Bright Idea stamp set, Technique Tuesday Say It – Awesome die set

CASology Wood – Smore Fun

Today, I’m sharing a card that I’m linking to the CASology Challenge. The theme is wood and the cute card by Megan inspired mine. When I think wood, I think camping, and when I think camping, I think of S’mores!

I stamped the S’mores in a stack using a post-it note to mask the layers. I colored the images with a variety of Copics in the E5X series. I’m really enjoying Copic coloring with the Gina K Pure Luxury cardstock. It makes a big difference in the blending. The woodgrain card panel was created with an Amuse Studio texture plate.

You Drive Me Wild

Today, I’m sharing a “just for fun” card using the Lawn Fawn “Happy Trails” stamp set and matching die cut.

YouDriveMeWild

I haven’t Copic-colored for a long time and practiced my coloring on the cars. I used Gina K Design’s Pure Luxury cardstock, on the recommendation of some Stamp Nation members, and I definitely liked the results. I used color combinations from Sharon Harnist. Her Copic FAQ page is a fabulous resource!

Happy Solstice

Happy Solstice – whether you’re North or South of the equator!

My husband, Ginger and I spent the day on Whidbey Island. If there’s a heaven for dogs, this is Ginger’s version. It was truly a special day.

In terms of cardmaking – I have an In Detail review of 11 black stamping inks over in Ellen Hutson’s CLASSroom. And there’s still time to “comment to win” over at The Cutting Edge Challenge blog.

Enjoy your day!
