Cardmaking and Scrapbooking with Jean Manis
Hello! I have a card over on the Penny Black Simplicity site today! I hope you’ll head on over to check it out.

In honor of the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, I’m sharing a card created with Lawn Fawn stamps and dies celebrating camping!
I stamped the trees on the card base with the Memento Peanut Brittle ink for a tone-on-tone look. The sentiment from the Happy Trails stamp set was heat-embossed. I cut the Forest Border and then cut it again with the Tag die, adhering the trees to the sky, also cut with the Tag die. I stamped and Copic-colored the car and camper from the Happy Trails stamp set, cutting them out with their coordinating dies.

Have you seen this month’s Sketch for You to Try at Reverse Confetti?
I’m playing along with a card showcasing a sentiment from the Reverse Confetti Shine Bright stamp set.
I colored the stamped sentiment with Copic markers to create an ombre effect. To give interest to the sentiment panel I used the Office Edges Confetti Cuts set. To the card, I added a sun cut with the Sun ‘n Clouds Confetti Cuts set and banners cut with the Stitched Flag Trio set. Lastly, I added flowers cut with The Tweet Life Confetti Cuts popped up with dimensional adhesive.
I hope you’ll play along! Head on over to link up your card on the Reverse Confetti Blog for your chance to win a $20 Reverse Confetti gift certificate and the title of ‘Fetti Fave!
I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown #342.
I was inspired by the colors and the balloons!
The Avery Elle Balloons die set includes a variety of balloon sizes, as well as the asterisk-shaped confetti. The “celebrate” sentiment is from the Avery Elle Bunting set. There’s a stamp set that coordinates with the Balloons dies, which I unfortunately don’t own. So to create the balloon strings, I used the bunting string from the Bunting die set, along with the bows in that set.

Today, I’m sharing two cards suitable for celebrations! The Campground community on Martha’s Vineyard has an annual summer event called “Grand Illumination” during which beautiful paper lanterns, hung on gingerbread cottage porches, are lit. The tradition dates from the turn of the 19th century and is the inspiration for my cards.
After applying Distress Inks to watercolor paper and letting it dry, I used Penny Black’s #51-034 After Glow die set to cut out a lot of lanterns. I then played with different combinations of shapes and colors. Because I had so many lanterns, I decided to make two cards – one on a black background and one on a white background.
For the black background, I heat embossing a sentiment from Penny Black’s 30-297 Sprinkles and Smiles with silver powder.
For the white background, I stamped a different sentiment from the same set – Penny Black’s 30-297 Sprinkles and Smiles – in black ink.
