Day 10 of the 12 Tags of Christmas

Today I’m sharing my take on the Day 10 Tag by Maile Belles for the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Challenge. This tag was a fun one with which to try different ink combinations.

Day 10 of the 12 Tags of Christmas

I simplified the background by stamping with the Hero Arts “Snow Dots” background stamp. For my first take, I kept my trees and sentiment very much like Maile’s, but then I glued it together with a glue that warped the paper. 🙁  For my second take, I decided to make the trees and sentiment more symmetrical. I added some glitter paper above and below the tree section. And I topped the tree off with a star from the Lawn Fawn set.

I’ve had so much fun with these tags, I really don’t want the inspiration to end!

Supplies: glitter paper (Target); ColorBox white pigment ink; Recollections ribbon (Michaels)

Day Six of the 12 Tags of Christmas

I’m back sharing another tag for the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Challenge at Ellen Hutson‘s. This one was inspired by the Day Six tag by Teri Anderson. I had some fits and starts with this – I had the tag assembled and then after photographing it, I took it apart and made some adjustments. Rather than make twine trees, like Teri did, I used two different Paper Smooches stamps on patterned paper. I added a few pearls to the trees as well. I used the “Warm Wishes” sentiment from the Studio Calico/Hero Arts “Spread Joy” set. This has been one of my favorite sentiment stamps this season.

Another Tag – 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Challenge

I’m sharing another tag I made for the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Challenge over at Ellen Hutson‘s. My head has been swimming with ideas from the tags shared thus far. I went in a couple of directions before creating this tag inspired by the Day Four tag by Jennifer McGuire. I was also inspired by the Day Two tag by Claudine Hellmuth, which includes sheet music. Because I had a kraft background, I decided to color the bird blue (just the opposite of Jennifer’s tag). Even though the stamp I used for the bird isn’t specifically Christmas-y, I decided to “go with it”! And with our gray skies here in the Pacific Northwest, the blues and pinks added some much needed color to my world! Like Jennifer’s tag, I went with “Joy” as my sentiment.

12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Challenge

Ellen Hutson is having a 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Challenge and I decided to play along. All of the tags have been beautiful and inspiring!

I’m sharing a tag inspired by the Day One tag by Sharon Harnist. I simplified her tag considerably!

Although I first considered paper-piecing the skating couple, an October Afternoon stamp, I colored them with Copics. I finished the tag off with a shimmery ribbon tied at the top with twine and some silver bells.

Simple Scrapper December Premium Membership Blog Hop

Welcome! Today we’re hosting a Simple Scrapper Team blog hop using this month’s Simple Scrapper Premium Membership templates.

In keeping with my “scrapping with the seasons” approach, I scrapped three Christmas season layouts.

The first captures Christmas morning for my sons from 1994. My youngest was just a year-and-a-half old at the time. I created the flairs digitally using both elements and papers in my stash. I did a bit of hue and saturation modification so that they would match the colors in the paper.

For my second layout, I used non-traditional holiday colors to bring out the colors in the photo. A few years ago, we toured Christmas Tree Lane in Oxnard, California’s historic district. Taking nighttime drives to view lights is one of our favorite holiday traditions.

Lastly, I scrapped the Langley, Washington, holiday parade. We’ve been attending this the last couple of years. It’s small-town holiday fun at its best. The layout came together quickly with the new collab at Design House Digital “Here Comes Santa.”
