Avery Elle Happy Camper Van

Today, I’m sharing a card featuring the Avery Elle Surf’s Up stamp set.

HappyCamperVan

I used this same set for my AEI♥U Challenge #27 – Embossing card. While I watercolored the embossed vans for that card, I decided to go in a different direction on this card pairing the paper-pieced, heat-embossed van and palms with sand dunes cut with the Dotted Borders set. All of the patterned papers (other than the trunks of the palm) are from the Avery Elle Brights and Everyday collections (links below). I finished the card with a sentiment from the Happy Camper set, heat-embossed on black cardstock.

Retrosketches #177

I’m playing along with Retrosketches #177 with a card that showcases the Thank You die cut from Avery Elle. I cut the sentiment three times for added depth.

Even though we’re almost headed into fall, I ended up creating a card with more spring/early summer colors! The blossoms and leaves were stamped with Mama Elephant Lollipop and Blush, VersaMagic Turquoise Gem and Sea Breeze, and Fresh Ink Tuscan Olive.

Embossed + Watercolored Tea Time Thanks

Today, I’m sharing a card featuring the Avery Elle Tea Time set.

TeaTimeThanks

Ever since completing my card for the AEI♥U Challenge #27 – Embossing, I’ve been wanting to do more watercoloring. (For me, I am taking baby steps! Watercoloring continues to intimidate me!) I stamped and heat-embossed the teacups on watercolor paper and colored with Peerless watercolors. (I actually started with Distress Inks and then added the Peerless for more depth.) Once dry, I cut the teacups out with their corresponding dies. The background circle was cut from a panel that I watercolored with a variety of Peerless colors and Distress Inks. I heat-embossed the sentiment on Neenah cardstock and cut it out with the larger Finished Frames die. I realized after the card was completed that I had two teacups – so the sentiment should read “Cups of Thanks”!) The teacups and hearts are attached with dimensional adhesive.

Background Check Day Six

The Day Six Online Card Classes Background Check lesson focused on card designs using backgrounds shown on Days Four and Five. I created a card using the Gap Background technique shown by Kristina Werner along with other “texture techniques.”

OCCBCDay6

Using an embossing folder by Sizzix for Stampin’ Up, I dry embossed two ends of a card panel leaving a gap in between. Within the gap, I added the Avery Elle die cut sentiment (cut from foil and adhered to white cardstock) using dimensional adhesive. I wasn’t planning on making a holiday card, (and Kristina used completely different supplies for her sentiment), but the Season’s Greetings worked well for this technique.

AEI♥U Challenge #27 – Embossing

It’s time for another AEI♥U Challenge! This month’s theme is Embossing! Here’s my take on the theme:

AEAugust2015

I stamped and heat embossed the van from Surf’s Up three times on watercolor paper. I then stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from Sending You. ( I did so in two steps – by first stamping and heat embossing the “sending” and then “good vibes.” When I tried stamping the two pieces of the sentiment at the same time, I couldn’t get them close enough together.)

I used Peerless Watercolors to color the vans. Once the panel was dry, I cut it with the frame in Custom Panels. I cut the hearts from watercolored paper with dies from the Finished Frames set. As a final step, I added Glossy Accents to the hearts.

There’s no limit to how you can interpret embossing  for this challenge!

Check out the inspiration from the rest of the Design Team over on the AEI♥U Challenge Blog!  You’ll also find the InLinkz tool to link up YOUR take on the challenge – we’d love to see your beautiful work in our gallery! There are two $25 Avery Elle Gift Certificates up for grabs for the two best entries!  You have until 12:01 AM on August 27, 2015 to link up your take on the challenge!
