Penny Black Simplicity – Summer Blooms

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a CAS floral card created with Penny Black stamps and dies. I’m trying to squeeze in a few more summer-themed cards before moving into the fall and winter holidays!

Jean Manis Penny Black Simplicity

I stamped and heat-embossed 40-468 Flowerets and colored the flowers with Distress Inks (Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet and Carved Pumpkin). I then fussy cut the flowers. I die cut 51-242 Shall We Dance twice from green cardstock and attached the fussy-cut flowers to the stems (covering the flower portion of the die cut). I arranged the flowers and stems on a background to which I’d applied Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink.

The sentiment from 30-338 Special Thoughts was stamped onto a window panel. To embellish the card, I added a butterfly cut with one of the dies in the 51-132 Flights of Fancy set.

Late Summer Hello: TE Share Joy Challenge #49

Hello! I’m playing along with Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge #49.

I used the sketch and the colors to create a CAS, beach-themed card (not ready to say “good bye” to summer quite yet!):

TE Share Joy Challenge #49I trimmed the Beach Border with the one of the Stitched Square Stacklets dies after stamping the cardstock with a sentiment from Simply Succulents Stamp & Die Combo in Sugar Cube ink.

I had this card all assembled with a white strip (rather than the patterned paper) and it looked a little blah, so I flipped through my stack of patterned paper and pulled out this fun Echo Part print to add just a touch of whimsy! I also dry-embossed the background cardstock with the On the Spot embossing folder to add interest and texture. (I find that if there are multiple layers in a card design, it always helps to add some patterned paper and dry-embossing!)

Lawn Fawn Owl Always Love You

Hello! Late August signals back-to-school, and I’ve been seeing lots of posts about first days of school and sons and daughters headed to college. Our youngest son left for college this time of year five years ago (time really doesn’t fly!). He’s finished with college now, so we don’t have any back-to-schoolers in the house. That doesn’t mean I can’t remember what those transitions felt like, and with that type of transition in mind, I created this card with Lawn Fawn stamps and dies.

The Mom + Me set was released for Mother’s Day; I repurposed the owl with her owlet as a card for a son or daughter (perfect, really, for just about any time!). I kept the colors gender neutral (and sort of outdoorsy).

Haunted Halloween – TE Share Joy Challenge #48

Hello! I’m playing along with Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge #48.

I used the sketch to create a CAS Halloween card:

I used the 13 Dead End Drive die (trimming off the bottom section) to create the haunted house and witch. I backed the windows with grey cardstock and the moon with white cardstock (I normally put yellow in for moons, but I wanted to keep the color palette quiet). I used old Halloween patterned paper for the background (I have a ton of patterned paper packs for Halloween!). I used a thin tape from my stash (never before used!) for the detail strips. I stamped the Boo to You set sentiment onto cardstock, which I cut with the smallest Stitched Rectangle Stacklets die (by cutting and then cutting again to shorten the length). The bats are from the just-released Haunted Accessories set.

Lawn Fawn Pacific Northwest Hello

Hello! Today I’m sharing a card crafted with Lawn Fawn stamps and dies. I imagined a scene in the Pacific Northwest while crafting the card.

I watched Kelly Marie’s intro video for the Dad + Me set to get ideas for Copic coloring the bears (I will now watch her coloring for every Lawn Fawn stamp, as it makes the process so much easier!). I used Taylored Expressions Cookie Monster ink for the lake.

Lawn Fawn PNW Hello

I just love that bucket hat! My husband has a similar one (although it’s not teal :-)).
