Taylored Expressions Mini Caps Alpha Dies

Hello! I’m sharing two projects (a card and a scrapbook layout) using Taylored Expressions Mini Caps Alpha & #’s dies. These dies are great for personalizing a project!

First up – a needle crafts-themed card – with a punny sentiment.

I cut the letters and adhered them to the Cross Stitch dry-embossed background within the Embroidery Hoop. I added a heart cut with Little Bits – Buttons (to represent the word “love”) and a needle cut with Little Bits – Needle & Thread. I added thread to the button and to the needle and adhered the frame to a background, which I had been dry-embossed with the Cable Knit embossing folder.

Supplies for the Needle Crafts Card:

For my second project, I created a scrapbook layout for which I used the Mini Caps Alpha & #’s to create a title and embellishment.

I was a scrapbooker before I was a cardmaker, and my layouts have, for the most part, been light on embellishments, allowing the journaling and photos to do the heavy lifting. For this layout, chronicling a special trip my husband and son took this past summer, I created the “GO” embellishment by adhering letters cut with the Mini Caps Alpha & #’s set on to a circle, which I had cut with one of the dies in the Stitched Circle Stacklets set. I also die cut the letters for the title, adhering them on to the journaling card, which I cut with a die in the Stitched Square Stacklets set. I printed the date onto cardstock with my computer printer and cut it with the Tab Edger die.

It’s great to be able to personalize a scrapbook page with coordinated embellishments and title without buying any additional supplies!

PB Simplicity – Thinking of You Fall-Themed Card

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a CAS fall-themed card created with Penny Black stamps.

PB Simplicity Fall Tree

This card came about as a result of a happy accident. Using my MISTI, I stamped the tree 40-417 Regalia with a variety of Distress Ink colors and then again with VersaMark ink, which I heat-set. The heat-set image allowed me to stencil light blue ink onto the tree with a sponge applicator. (I created a stencil by cutting a circle shape out of vellum.)

After stenciling, I stamped a sentiment from #30-345 Soar and cut the image with a rectangular die, adhering the panel to a wood-grain card base.

Last week, I shared a card on the Simplicity Blog using non-holiday dies to create a bold and modern Christmas creation. I hope you’ll head over there and take a look.

HB2U – Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge #51

Hello! I’m playing along with Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge #51.
TE Share Joy Challenge #51

I used the sketch to create a birthday card:

TE Share Joy Challenge #51

I used just one of the layers in the Build a Cake set (this die set is so versatile!). I let the colors in the TE 6×6 Paper Pack – Hello Happiness dictate the other colors in the card. I heat-embossed a sentiment from Bold Brushstrokes.

When I finished, the Strawberry Milkshake cardstock panel looked unfinished, so I added a hand-drawn dotted line with a Uni-Ball Impact Gel Pen – White.

Welcoming Fall + Forever 29!

Hello! Welcome to Day 3 of the Taylored Expressions September Sneak Peeks. With this release, Taylored Expressions is celebrating its 8th birthday with some fun party favors! (I’ve got more info on that at the end of this post.) The wait is almost over! The September products will be released tomorrow – Thursday, September 1 @ 7 AM PST!

TE 8th Birthday

Today, I’m sharing two cards: a fall-themed one and a birthday-themed one! Let’s start with my decorated fall door using Door to Door Fall Decor.

Taylored Expressions September 2016 Release

I tried a number of different colored doors cut with the Door to Door set and this red one made me happy! (So much so that I think I need to paint our front door this color.) I decorated the door with foliage and a wreath cut with the Door to Door Fall Decor set (which includes the squirrel) and Little Bits – Fall Harvest. I put vellum behind the Door to Door Molding to soften the patterned paper (Playful Patterns – Harvest) and to simulate glass. I stamped a sentiment from Pumpkin Bouquet on to coordinating paper from the same patterned paper pack.

My birthday-themed card showcases the Candle Numbers die set.

I chose “29” since it’s often used as the age for birthday wishes in which the actual age of the recipient isn’t discussed. Aren’t these candles fun? I cut the cake with the Build a Cake set from paper in TE 6×6 Paper Pack – Hello Happiness. I added embellishments cut with the Little Bits – Sequins Confetti and Little Bits – Sprinkles Confetti sets. The sentiment is from Simply Stamped – Cupcakes.

Penny Black Simplicity – Summer Blooms

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a CAS floral card created with Penny Black stamps and dies. I’m trying to squeeze in a few more summer-themed cards before moving into the fall and winter holidays!

Jean Manis Penny Black Simplicity

I stamped and heat-embossed 40-468 Flowerets and colored the flowers with Distress Inks (Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet and Carved Pumpkin). I then fussy cut the flowers. I die cut 51-242 Shall We Dance twice from green cardstock and attached the fussy-cut flowers to the stems (covering the flower portion of the die cut). I arranged the flowers and stems on a background to which I’d applied Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink.

The sentiment from 30-338 Special Thoughts was stamped onto a window panel. To embellish the card, I added a butterfly cut with one of the dies in the 51-132 Flights of Fancy set.
