Taylored Expressions SJC #29

I’m playing along with the Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge #29.

I used the sketch to create a card that could be sent for either encouragement or congratulations:

I couldn’t resist pairing this sentiment from the Sky High Sentiments set with the Roly Poly – Ladybug die-cut! I added the grass cut with the Fringe Border die and the cloud cut with the Cloud Duo die to play with perspective and make the lady bug appear even larger. This would be a fun card to send to a child graduating from kindergarten.

“So I said to the cat…”

Today, I’m sharing a CAS “hello” card created with Memory Box and Poppystamps supplies.

Cat + Bird Hello

I have made many cards with this walking cat die (it’s the perfect size, it works for a number of different scenes and it reminds me of a black cat, named “Decaf”, that we had when my sons were young). For this card, I thought it would be fun to pair the cat with a bird in a birdhouse. I don’t see the cat as necessarily menacing, but then again, do we really ever know what a cat is thinking? I usually make my scenes more realistic (by adding grass, fence, flowers) but kept this one abstract.

Shake It Up – Taylored Expressions Birthday Card

Today, I’m sharing a masculine birthday shaker card featuring Taylored Expressions products.

I made this card with my youngest son (not so young anymore!) in mind, as he has an upcoming birthday. His favorite colors vary, but he likes orange and gray together (and silver), so that’s what I used.

I cut the balloon shapes with the die from the Party Time set out of the orange card base. I also cut the balloon shapes from foam. I adhered an Acrylic Sheet to the back of the orange panel and then attached the foam cut-outs to the acrylic (carefully arranging them behind the panel). I filled the shapes with a combination of sequins from several sets, looking for ones that were white, clear or silver. I also wanted to make sure that I had a variety of sizes. I then backed the foam pieces with cardstock to hold in the sequins.

I adhered the numbers cut from Poppy Seed with the Chunky #’s die set to the acrylic front. To fill out the scene, I added stars and balloon strings cut from Shimmer White cardstock to the panel. I finished the card with a heat-embossed sentiment from the In & Out Birthday set, cut with a Stitched Banner Stacklets die, and a frame cut from silver cardstock (in the Premium Cardstock – Metallic Neutrals pack) with a Frame in Frame Cutting Plate die.

It’s an understated use of sequins to add a little fun to the card!

TE Share Joy Challenge #26

I used both the sketch and the inspiration photo to create an Easter card with a combination of die cuts.

TE Share Joy Challenge #26

I clustered the Little Bits – Chocolate Bunny with eggs cut with a die in the Egg Stacklets set. I dry-embossed the eggs with the Embossing Folder – On the Spot embossing folder. I heat-embossed the sentiment from the Easter Wishes set and cut it with a die in the Stitched Banner Stacklets set. To keep the leaves behind the circle subtle, I cut vellum with the Leafy Branch die.

CAS(E) this Sketch #162

I’m sharing a card created with Penny Black supplies for the CAS(E) this Sketch #162 challenge.

CAS(E) this Sketch #162

I cut the top butterfly with the 51-010 Delicate Wings die from silver paper and the lower butterfly with the corresponding die in the same set from white cardstock. Using the 51-007 Tagged die, I cut paper which had been watercolored with Distress Inks, to which I attached a heat-embossed sentiment from the 30-297 Sprinkles and Smiles set that was cut with a die in the 51-027 Triple Banner set. The card background was dry-embossed for added texture.
